OK guys, I'm a big fan of monk and will play it no matter what, but I'm worried about number of viable builds and skill/passive diversity. Monk skills and passives differ alot in terms of usefulness.
To give you a picture I will ask a few questions :
1. Can you imagine anyone taking fleet footed passive (10% ms) in place of any other passive. Don't you think 100 spirit or death avoiding passive is a BIT better ?
2. Can you imagine anyone playing solo game taking Guiding Light passive(dmg increase when healing others)
3. Can you imagine anyone not taking a mantra
4. Would you take tempest rush before LTK or any other area skill?
5. Would you make a monk without a SSS? You probaly would, but it is the most awesome looking skill and most burst dmg we can offer, giving total invulenrability while executing.
There are other questions but I will settle on this. I think some skills need be brought up in order to match awesome skills that monk already has.
i believe every class is going to have a couple "lackluster" abilities. its going to be hard to have that many skill/runed combinations where every single one is awesome.
and that being said, maybe once we get into the game a little deeper, some abilities will have situational uses that we don't see now =]
perhaps that 10% ms buff will be what you need to kite an enemy during a powerful attack. who knows?
As a manic monk myself I can tell you iv seen many a different build of monks. Yes there are some similarities among some builds but thats true for all classes. I have seen some builds where no mantra is used. Others with unique trends to them. just as "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" so too will the idea of a good monk build be different to each person.
