I have some malware in my system that my antivirus can't get out. It alters IE to pop up an endless amount of pages and it forces me to run my computer in safe mode. It comes and goes but it's clearly still in my system and I need to get it out.
So, can anybody direct me to a good and free antimalware scan?

Good and free? I don't know of a good Malware/virus scanner that's really good and also free... But stay away from AVG. That one is absolutely terrible.
...Norton? I use it, but only because it came free with my laptop. I don't think the free downloadable version is any good. This one seems to work fine.

.... Yeah, AVG is a piece of shit.
Been using it for a while, and it consistently never picks up any viruses, despite the fact that I regularly browse greasy midget porn, and all those other fun facets of the interwebs.
Seriously though, AVG does suck a hell of a lot. You'd be much better off using a trial version of a pay-for scanner, then just ditching it once you must pay.
I've heard a lot of good reviews about BitDefender, even tried downloading it once, but it's one of those pay for scanners...

You may have to use more powerful programs to remove the malware.
Hijack This is a nice program. Used to use that program a lot when I did advanced tech support over the phone for an ISP. Most calls were for malware related issues. I have not need to use it for some time. You would need to be careful running it since it does edit the registry.
I also used Microsoft Process Explorer to help disable some processes so I could delete the virus or malware.

Oh thanks. It still has not solved the problem. I'm going to take it to the tech support at my school tomorrow.

No pop ups. IE's home page just pops up as many times as it can fill the taskbar.
Spybot found a registry error in IE and supposedly fixed it.

Ya but I can't remember it now. It said that it deleted it so I don't know whats still going wrong.
I've ran several Webroot antivirus scans, several antimalware scans, spybot scans. So much that they are coming up empty now. They find a cookie now and then but I still have the same problem. Everytime I reboot my computer and start windows normally the IE home page pop ups commence.

Did Spybot find anything that it can not remove?
