So I downloaded Diablo 2, have a legitimate CD Key, and I have a stable Internet connection. My firewall isn't blocking Diablo 2. So why can't i connect to battle.net?
Everytime I click "Multiplayer," I get an error message says I am unable to connect to battle.net. I've already reinstalled the game several times, and have un/reconnect my internet connection. Does anybody have any ideas on how to help me? It'd be greatly appreciated.
Hmm... does your firewall have the ports opened for D2 ?
I know you said it isn't blocking, but many people (including me) have forgotten to open ports for games.
You could also try running the diagnostic tool on internet explorer, that has fixed connection issues with Eastern Sun for me before.
If all else fails, refer to the troubleshooting section of the manual, or seek online help on a computer forum, those boys know their stuff.
edit: Hate to be a stick in the mud, but if you're going to post right after a post, please use the edit function instead, it's common courtesy on these forums :D.
Also, noticed it's your first two posts, welcome to the forums !

Also, how would I go about opening the ports for D2?
happend to me on 1st diablo. my bro said it happend because since i downloded it and didint install it it ran as a pogram and not as a game applacation i donnu maybe dats true....... but i found my first diablo cd so that dosent trouble me
No prob, and it's fine lol, you're new here ^^.
Go into your firewall, go to the "exceptions" tab, click "add program" then select the Diablo icon.
May have already been opened, but hey, sometimes these things don't work.
May also have to try downloading a different copy, your source may be bad.
Also, do you have a CD-Key from a legitamite copy of the game ?
If you've downloaded a crack or keygen, then it's kindof illegal and overall, a bad idea.
Or, go buy the battlechest from Futureshop or some other shop, it should be fairly cheap by now, considering D2 has been out for like... years.
If you get the battlechest, you probably should have no problems installing and running the game, trust me, you'll get your money's worth out of this game, I've been playing since it came out and it's still fun.

Hmm, still not working. I feel like this is less of a problem with my internet, and more of a problem with the game itself. I'm gonna try a re-install (again :(). Hopefully it'll work. If my problems persist, rest assured I'll be back to complain more ;).
Haha, good luck.
If you've got a legitamite cd-key, download from a different source.
If you've got a cracked cd-key, get the actual game from a retailer.
Both of those should solve your problems.

umm thats the issue ie a dl install i havethe same issue too cdkey issue apparently
btw dled cdkey =/= original cdkey therefore no battlenet :/
wait are you talkin about something different here? or does downloaded mean brought from blizz online store
My CD key is legitamate. The game was given to me years as a gift, so I know the CD key is real. I've used it before to play the game, even a few months ago, but for some reason it's not working now. What "other sources" could I download the game from?
Well, i'd rather not distribute ways of getting free downloads on the forums, but I'm sure you can find some on google.
I'm pretty sure you can download one from Blizzard as well, just add your cd key to the battlenet account.
