is it disconcerting to anyone else that these products, endorsed by blizzard, allow and boast the use of macros?
.. offering a "competitive edge" to those that use them through their macros and ability to handle more simultaneous keystrokes..?
it's like no 3rd party programs! .. because we're not selling them
rather than no 3rd party programs because they're unfair.
i got my boyfriend a g15 keyboard because he'd been pining after one for years, but had never bought one because he realized that i'd majorly disapprove..
so i got it for him as a surprise christmas gift, and ever since i am just appalled at how unfair the thing is.. automating tasks and such.
and then blizzard is selling similar..
i don't get it..
3rd party programs that automate tasks are a nono. but, hardware that automates tasks is FOR SALE!
just venting i guess. i like to compete in games but have a hard time with accepting an unfair playing field due to what i feel like is cheating.
i'm gonna have to get over this issue, i guess.. cause these things aren't going away.
i just sort of thought blizzard would disapprove rather than sell them.

they'll never see me coming.. life is a sequence of tragedies, inconsistent only by fleeting, elusive moments of pleasure,
serving only to ensure absolute vulnerability to the pain of their inevitable absence.
You ever heard of emails? same thing, people are too lazy to write a letter and mail it anymore. People are too lazy to click tremendous amounts of buttons for a repetitive task, so they get accommodated. And sorry but extra macro buttons on a mouse is not, nor ever will be, even close to a 3rd party program.

Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could
What kind of things could extra mouse buttons do. I suppose you could theoretically assign skills to a mouse button but I don't see how it would be that much faster than your left hand on the keyboard
not talking about extra buttons, but rather about the "advanced macro creation"
as for what they could do.. i don't know.
best case is simple commands at a click.. worse case complete automated series of clicks and commands with a button.
(as i said my only basis for comparison is the g15 keyboard.. which is just sickening in the amount of automation that it allows for)
i just feel like the player should be 100% in control of what his character is doing (be it repetitious or not)... i feel like any kind of automation that the game does not supply itself is wrong.
i don't see a difference between automation supplied by a code vs automation supplied by hardware.

When changes are made, in this case a change in technology, it may not be fair for everyone in its inception but usually levels out over time. Although I do agree that the player should be 100% in control of what your character does in its most intricate state but it is just an evolution you can't prevent.

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."

I do see them as putting the player at an advantage in certain situations depending on game obviously
