"I think we should stock up on some supplies first" William suggested.
"Good idea" Kaelan agreed.
The travelers left the inn and scoured the streets looking for valuable supplies to take with them.
William walked up to a merchant's shop where he saw a shield for sale. The shield was just the right size for William. The metallic shield was decorated with a Lion crest on the front surrounded by ivy. William searched his pockets for anything he could use to barter for the shield. the merchant spotted William attempting to purchase the shield. The merchant walked over to him and said "well boy, whatcha got"
William continued searching for anything of value. "I'm sorry, it doesn't look like I have anything to trade." William answered.
"What about that necklace?" The merchant asked pointing to the necklace Sara gave him after saving her life.
"This" William lifted up the necklace. "I couldn't. This was given to me as a gift." William explained.
"Well, I guess we are done here then." The merchant abruptly stated. The merchant stopped in his tracks as he noticed William's sword. The merchant walked right up to William as he examined the sword. William quickly grabbed the sword to protect it from the merchants wondering hands.
"Is that Jacob's sword? That is, I'd recognize that sword anywhere. How did you get this sword?" The merchant asked.
William, a bit confused answered "It was my Father's sword. He died protecting mine and my mother's life. I took his sword and I have sworn to avenge his death with it."
The merchant walked over to the wall where the shield, William had his eyes on, rested. He removed the metallic shield and handed it over to William.
"I don't understand" William questioned.
"It's the least I could do for the son of the man who saved my life." The merchant responded. The merchant quickly turned around and began locking up his shop. William felt his presence was no longer needed as he headed out of the shop.
Meeting up with the rest of his companions, William looked around to see the rest of his group well stocked and well supplied.
"Alright, alright, where to now? We can either head East and get to Tristram through Lut Gholein or head South and get there through the Torajan jungles." Gaheed offered to the group.
Should William choose:
A. East, through Lut Gholein
B. South, through the Torajan Jungles.

"I think we should head South towards the Torajan Jungles" William suggested.
"Fine then, South it is" Gaheed answered.
The four travelers once again began their trek through Sanctuary eager to find out what is going on in the small town of Tristram. They headed South reaching the Kurast. While walking through the swamps William began noting the trees and brush moving. William stopped in his tracks to watch more closely.
Kaelan turned around "What is it William?"
"The trees, there moving." William answered as he gazed deep into the swamps. "There" he shouted pointing into the distance "Do you see it."
The other three travelers saw nothing ans shrugged it off. They began walking again discounting William's warning. After a bit more walking the group stopped again, this time to the sounds of cracks and snapping. The four travelers slightly dispersing as they prepared themselves for a fight. Sara quickly ran off into the shadows as Kaelan and William stood back to back. Gaheed stood there with his arms stretched out on either side of him.
As the sounds got louder their assailants became visible. Through the brush came five walking trees. Hulking masses of branches and wood thrashed their way towards the travelers. Kaelan raised his giant axe and leaped towards the monsters. His axe came down slicing the branch arm right off of the hulking beast. As soon as he hit the ground, the monsters other arm swung around and knocked Kaelan off of his feet. Kaelan collected himself and charged towards the beast. Kaelan began swinging his axe around him in circles as he plowed through two of the monsters, cutting the down to the ground.
Gaheed raised one of his arms into the air as a bright ball of fire emanated from his palm. Gaheed threw his arm forwards as the ball of fire raced towards the possessed trees. The embers hit their target as the fire slowly crept up the towering beast, setting it on fire. The tree came crashing down to the ground as it shook the very floor it hit.
One of the trees rushed towards William. William raised his shield to block the monsters first hit. The beast did not let up. His branches rushed towards William. William did his best to stop the monsters attacks. A few branches caught William's arms causing minor lacerations.
"Dammit, Where is that Assassin" Kaelan yelled out to the others.
Just as his words left his mouth, Sara's body flipped through the air as she held out her claws. She sliced right through the beasts limbs rendering several of them without appendages. However, just as quickly the beast regrew their arms from thicker branches. Sara jumped back towards the tree and climbed up it digging her claws deep into the monster with every step. After reaching the trees top, she jumped down its back with her claws slicing down the entire way. The tree split in two as the tree fell down.
William's assault continued. He threw his sword up and down slicing the limbs of the tree only to find more growing back. The tree had pinned William back into another tree. William had nowhere else to go. Before the others could reach him, William raised his shield one last time. The shield began to glow with a brilliant gold light. William instinctively charged towards the beast and with one smash of his shield, knocked the beast down to the ground. William quickly took advantage of the opportunity and climbed on top of the beast. He held his sword up into the air and drove it deep into the monsters belly. William hacked into the beast multiple times in a matter of seconds.
William hopped off of the dead beast and gathered next to the rest of the group.
"Nice work" Kaelan said to William a bit surprised of his strength and ability.
William himself was a bit perplexed. "It must have been this shield" William thought to himself.
The group regathered and collected themselves.
"Well, well, that was interesting." Gaheed said to the rest of the group.
Perhaps we should go to the Kurast docks to investigate this matter some more" Sara suggested.
Should William reply:
A. Alright, let's go to the docks.
B. No, we need to stay on course.

"Alright, I know someone who resides at the docks. Her name is Natalya. She can give us some information." Sara added.
The group continued their walk towards the Kurast docks. By night's end, they had made it. The four traveler's felt the eerie presence that had taken over Kurast. They entered the docks to see a few measly warriors and mages that held the docks.
"What's going on here?" William asked. The group was soon met by an assassin dressed in all black.
"Sara" she exclaimed.
"Natalya, it is good to see." Sara replied as they embraced each other.
"I haven't heard from you in years. I heard what happened to you and rest assure that I am on your side." Natalya told Sara.
"Thank you, it is good to know that some of you are on my side." Sara followed.
"Whats happened to Kurast?" Gaheed said interrupting their reunion.
"An evil presence has come our way. This evil corrupts everything it touches. The swamps themselves become alive to do its bidding." Natalya explained to the travelers.
"This presence has spread further than Kurast, it has reached as far North as the foothills of Mt.Arreat." Kaelan added.
"Do you know what is causing it?" William asked Natalya.
"No, I am afraid not. However, there are rumors around these parts about some mysterious stones involved but we have not been able to figure out what these stones are or where they come from." Natalya informed the rest of the group.
"We are headed to Tristram. We have information that says it is originating from there." Sara told Natalya, "Why don't you come with us?"
"I cannot, my place is here right now. I need to help protect the rest of the people here and hold these docks."
"I understand" Sara responded.
"However, before you leave, I have a favor to ask. There is a small cave a bit further into the forest. At the bottom of the cave there is something that I need you to retrieve. I would get it myself but I am afraid to leave these docks only to return to them completely destroyed."
Should William say:
A. Of course we will get it.
B. I'm sorry but we already have our task at hand to complete.

Although it doesn't matter at this point, I'm going to say B. Her quest just sounds too cliche to be something that I think would actually happen.
Also, I noticed that some archived your choose your own adventure discussion thread as well as my choose your own adventure thread, not that that one mattered, but left my discussion thread. I dunno...
"Of course we will go get it for you" William replied, "I wouldn't want to leave these people defenseless from the monsters that are lurking about".
"What is this precious item? may I ask" Gaheed chimed in.
"It is a rare ring that can help you on your journey. I just need it first to make sure everything is fine with it" Natalya answered.
"Fine, lets go." Kaelan commanded "We need to hurry so we can get going to Tristram."
With Kaelan leading the way, the four travelers began walking through the dense jungle ever weary of what might pop out around the next corner. After walking through some thick brush, Kaelan spotted the cave. The entrance was covered in webs and a slimy green gooey dripping from the walls.
"Be careful everyone" Kaelan announced as he reached his axe from his back. The travelers entered the cave, the four huddled around each other not sure of what surprises this cave had in store for them.
They ventured deeper and deeper into the cave as the light began to slowly disappear. Gaheed extended his hand forward as small ball of fire appeared lighting their path.
Just as the light began to shine Kaelan spotted a golden chest emanating with magic.
"That must be it" Sara shouted as she ran for the chest. She opened it and retrieved a brilliant blue gem placed atop a silver ring.
"We got it, lets get out of here" Gaheed suggested.
The group turned around to exit the cave when they heard a high pitched screeching sound. Gaheed increased the size of the ball of fire in his hand to help shine more light into the cave. William spotted something on the wall but it quickly left the light.
"Did you guys see that" William announced pointing over to the wall. The rest of the group looked but saw nothing. The group stood still for a minute not sure what they should do. Just as they were about to begin walking again, they heard the screech again directly above them. Before they could even look up, a gigantic spider had jumped down from the ceiling landing on top of Gaheed while the rest of the group jumped out of the way.
The spider stood above Gaheed, easily three times his size. Gaheed released the fire from his hands and shot it forward at the spiders belly. The spider flew back as it disappeared once again into the darkness.
"Gaheed, set the webs on fire" Kaelan ordered.
Gaheed shot out a spread of fire lighting up the thick webbing that adorned the cave walls. The cave, now dimly lit became the groups battle ground. Everyone looked around desperately trying to find the monstrous spider.
Without warning, Kaelan felt a great force push him against the wall. A thick ivory web encased Kaelan against the wall, his hands pinned down as he was left there defenseless.
"Willaim!" Kaelan shouted out as the spider made his presence and began scurrying over towards William.
Sara ran over as she slipped underneath the spiders belly with one of her claws in the air. Her claws struck the arachnids belly. The spider pulled itself up higher on its eight legs. It swung around and hit Sara with its two hind legs. The force of the hit caused Sara to drop the ring as it rolled across the floor.
"The ring" Sara yelled out. The spider jumped on top of Sara and hastily spun Sara up in a cocoon.
William looked around trying to spot the ring. He saw the ring as it landed right between the spiders legs.
"I'll distract it" Gaheed yelled over to William. Gaheed ran away from the the the spider while constantly hurling fireball after fireball at it. He ran down a tunnel in the cave as the spider followed after him.
The ring was now accessible to William. William ran over and clutched the ring tightly in his hand. William looked around as he saw both Kaelan and Sara caught within the spider's webs. William ran over to Kaelan to free him form the web holding him in place. As he pulled out his sword to cut the web, Kaelan announced the spiders return. William turned around to see the spider without Gaheed.
The spider sprayed out a liquid from his front fangs at William. William raised his shield just in time to block the spray. The liquid deflected off of his shield. As it hit the ground, the poison burned right through the very rock of the cave floor. The spider continued his venomous attack as William stood their immobilized as he held up his shield to avoid being melted alive.
"William, toss me the ring." William heard. He turned his head to see Natalya standing in a tunnel of the cave.
"Give me the ring!" Natalya screamed out.
Should William:
A. Toss the ring to Natalya
B. Attempt to slay the Spider.

William looked around and saw that Kaelan and Sara were still trapped in their webbed graves and Gaheed nowhere to be seen.
"Help me, free Kaelan" William yelled back as the Giant spider crawled his way towards William.
"Dammit boy, toss me that ring now before it is too late" Natalya screamed out.
"Free Kaelan, we need his axe." William pleaded one more time waiting for help from Natalya.
"NOW!!" Natalya barked out.
Just as William was about to finally toss the ring to Natalya the monstrous spider made his way back to William. The spider flung his two legs towards William knocking him right off of his feet. William hit the ground hard as he lost his grip on his shield. William stood back up onto his feet and looked into the spiders multiple eyes.
William knew there was no way he could take this spider down by himself. He scouted the cave and realized that he was now closer to Sara. William looked back at the spider feeling as if the spider already knew his plan. The spider sprayed some more poison towards William. He rolled out of the way just in time as the acid grazed his lower leg.
"AHHHH!!" William yelled out from the burn. He looked around and no longer saw Natalya. "What the Hell happened to Natalya" William thought to himself.
William looked down at the glowing ring he was holding in his hand. The spider crawled up into the ceiling disappearing into the darkness of the cave.
Should William:
A. Put on the magic ring.
B. Try to free Kaelan.
