Well, I did some browsing around and was looking for a new headset. I ended up going with the one pictured below, a Arctic Cooling P531. It's got fantastic sound quality and was a really good price (around $60) however, the ear pieces rest on my ears instead of around them. After a few hours (in 1 sitting) it becomes kind of uncomfortable. I hate to say it, but I'm not completely satisfied with my purchase. I'm thinking about returning it (if I'm able to).
So, I'm still looking for a new headset, and hoping for some help. I'd love anyone's input, so if you have 2-cents on the matter, please chime in! A friend recommended a Roccat Kave 5.1 headset (http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Sound/ROCCAT-Kave-5-1/) but she said she had a hard time finding it in the U.S. Here's what I'm looking for;
I wonder if Sennheiser has a good headset in this price range, maybe with discount. Their headset are generally consider superior to gaming products companies like razer and steelseries.

Last I checked all their stuff is really expensive, but maybe you're right. I don't really know lol.
I'm no expert in this matter, but I've been using SteelSeries 5Hv2 for a year and a half and was extremely satisfied. My previous one was Cyber Snipa Sonar 5.1, it seems to be better on paper, but practically I like 5Hv2 a lot more. Though it's a gaming headset. People say it's not so great for music (I personally noticed the bass is weak, but it's fine by me). When playing cs or bf3 I hear footsteps and shots very clear, I've even been accused of cheating once =) So if you are into this kind of games, I would really recommend 5Hv2.
And it's also very comfortable, at least for me. I was raiding 4/7 4 hours a day for a year using this headset, no discomfort at all.
save up money buy something like the sennheisers worth it , will last you for years to come.
Those Sennheisers' are double the price I'm willing to pay.... plus, this was a Christmas present, I can't ask em to return my headset and buy one 3x more expensive....
What about the Steelseries Diablo 3 headset? I'll personally buy that soon. Might not be as good as the crazy expensive professional gaming headsets Sennheiser sells, but I would never give that much for a freaking headset.
BTW couldn't find G35 on their web store. Is it an old headset they don't sell anymore?
I do not know which brand you were looking at but it is logitech g35. Its gone down in price a lot. Look up some reviews. Great sound, awesome microphone.
I've really had nothing but problems with the 2 Logitech headsets I've had, and was hoping to find some quality elsewhere. Logitech, Steelseries, Razer; all of these are brands I kind of want to avoid. Maybe wanna avoid Plantronics & Turtle Beach too, since friends have had issues repeatedly with both lol. Is there no quality to be had under $100?
My advice. By something with a good quality cable so that it wont severally tangle. The tangling is annoying and it can damage the wires inside. Also don't spend too much money, headphones are the peripherals where planned obsolescence is implemented shamelessly. These headsets are not built to last very long so don't spend a lot of money unless you are sure they are designed to last. I will agree with some other people's posts and say sennheisers' are great, the company makes a lot of products for professionals where as other brands focus on entertainment. Generally professional products will be built with better quality materials and methods,

Well, I (and I think others as well) were hoping for some specific headsets in that price range ($60-$90). The G35 and Sennheisers' are way above that price range, and the ones IN the price range I have mentioned are of crap quality. Your info is good, just missing what I was hoping to get from this thread is all.
I'll tell you to avoid getting Logitech's G930 wireless gaming headset which is about $130,00 after tax. I got it for my kid because he keeps destroying every f$@n headset that has a wire by yanking the cable on them... excuse me for a moment, I need to go swear for all the money I spent for the 4 or 5 pairs I've bought. OK now then, it has good enough sound quality but the damn thing doesn't give smooth uninterrupted sound, it skips, likely because it's wireless and their provided driver sucks. So unfortunately I catch my kid borrowing my headset all too often, if he yanks that cable out again
You really really don't need that. The surround sound is still emulated just as in stereo headphones, and the surround emulation is barely better or if at all than in stereo ones. In fact I've experienced and read quite the opposite. Stereo headphones have bigger, better drivers that produce higher quality sound and are much more capable than in 5.1 7.1. Real badass brands like Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic etc don't even make those, and for a good reason, because really its just a gimmick.
Oh and Diablo headset is really good from what i hear.
I've read both sides of the argument. 5.1 headsets are a gimmick and then 5.1 headsets are the best. The one I got for Christmas is a 5.1 headset, and has 2 speakers and a sub in each cup. It's overall pretty nice but has a couple of things I dislike, which is why I was on the hunt for a new one. Hard to beat the price I got it at though, was about $60 and the sound quality is pretty great, which is why I wanted to stay under the $90 price area.
Edit: Even though the Steelseries D3 headset LOOKS amazing, it's out of my price range. Also, I can't tell if it's closed-ear design or open-ear, and it runs all the audio through USB (which isn't as high quality as 3.5mm. Plus, I think I was reading that with USB for audio it can pick up some feint cross-chatter and distort the audio a little bit.
Diablo headset comes with a good usb soundcard which is going to be much better than any built in mobo soundcards. So unless you got already a quality pci soundcard, usb headset with its soundcard would be better. USB also gives more juice.
And diablo headset is closed design.

Hmm seems nice, but the Gamescom 777 is a lil' out of my price range. To be honest, I don't know if any headset has these qualifications....

It's lookin' a lot like I'll be sticking with my Arctic Cooling P531 http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/sound/headsets/33/p531.html that I got for Christmas.
