McCain was 71 if I am not mistaken, and I see what you mean. I personally prefer young people in politics. They tend to be less experienced, but they are also less greedy.
And also Obama hasn't been in the "game" too long to become corrupted. He's more of what the people want and not "let's tell them what they want to here so i can get the votes" like what clinton and even McCain (only slightly) are doing.

If you like H. Clinton instead of B. Obama, your a racist bastard.
If you like B. Obama instead of H. Clinton, your a sexist bastard.
Either way your a bastard.
So I guess I am a sexist bastard.
Personally I would of perfered Obama to get some international experience first then run for President because he would be wonderful if he had some international experience. However, considering the alternatives, he's the best we have and will have to have "On-The-Job Training" I guess...
Yea, good job on forming a thoughtful rebuttle, but why do you say that?...
I say that because whether or not does a politician has or has not a platform makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. He will say whatever it will take him to say to be elected, and once he's elected, he may do directly the opposite of what he promised.
Please don't bring over Canadian policies here. That country works in a totally different way. A better way, in fact, if you ask me.

And saying his platform will make a difference because that's what he's saying to get elected! So it does make a difference...

Definately not a totally different way, there are many similarities.

How does it make a difference if, after he's elected, he's not going to follow the platform? The way I look at it, Obama has opinions on certain issues, but on other issues, he's not sure because times may change, and it's not a good idea to break your platform.
Take the first Bush, for instance. "Read my lips, no new taxes." - this is what he had to say to get elected. After he WAS elected, he eventually ended up passing some new taxes... so, um, yea...

I thought this was about who would win?...Not who would be the best?
I was stating a factor that might affect the outcome.

I never care who's going to win. I am only interested in who I would want to see win.
Your comment before in the MSN convo sounded like you disapprove of candidates without platforms.
It may or may not be a factor. I don't think it's a big factor. The biggest factor would be will or will not Clinton supporters vote for Obama if he wins.

Yea, but this thread is about who will win.

I do. Just my opinion I guess.

Yea, there are bigger factors most likely, but it is the only factor I was informed about, so I put it out there.
Yes, I really think that. Mostly, because no one is going to hear that platform. Except a few interested who don't have that much of an impact.
Most people vote by image, by basic impression. Voting by platform is called policy voting, and I saw this statitstic somewhere, like a relly low percentage of Americans policy vote, the vast majority vote based on party affiliation, friends, parents, and, most importantly, image.
ok i voted for obama because A. after the bush and all the rebublics no more of that lets see how the democrats do. B.hilary cliton. have you ever seen her smile. i would say she got possessed by baal and tryed to rule the world.
oh and i think barak is spelt wrong. i think its spelt like this-Barack.
oh hey little known fact i learned today. there is a city named obama in japan.

But, for instance, the media can take the platform or lack of and use it to their advantage. This can help the media create an image of the person.
I'm going to have to say Mccain, as much as I blatantly disagree with this post being on these forums, canucks gettin all cheesed off. And in my opinion some of you are a bit too young to understand our corrupt politics
Hilary is a war monger, I know she has many years in the gov't field I don't think she is a strong enough candidate for presidency.
Obama, I could care less about race, gender, yada yada yada,.. one thing is that he is muslim I'm not against muslims or anything but they're a tad but narrow minded. And I believe he won't have what it takes to lead the country, sure he can say he wants to do all sorts of shit, but do you really think half the bullshit he's waving is going to get passed in congress. "Uh, no?"
Mccain- This man is old mind you that, but with age comes wisdom. I believe this man has enough experience to lead our country, he believes in revamping our government. The government standards that are set in place today have been around since the 50's, so it's like this basically, the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing in the united states gov't today. He's got a website that does a damn good job of getting his message across to the people of america, did you know that the government has a fund set aside for elections, for candidates to use in their campaigns. It's hard earned tax payers cash.. You want to know who has dipped into that fund and boasted millions to travel around america and spit out bullshit lies?. Hillary, and Obama. The fund is called the pigbelly fund or something like that you can go ahead and google it. John Mccain strongly believes that it is stealing from the american citizens, and he won't touch the taxpayers money. I tip my hat off to him for that.
Oh and about that persian war discussion? We need to clean persian clocks. Don't think for a second that we need to pull out our millitary. I've disagreed for a long time on the war, but now my eyes are more open to whats going on over there, and it's terrible, sure people are dieing, but that comes hand in hand with war. To attempt to rid the middle-east of the evil that devours it so. I would rather be happy sleeping at night knowing that our country is being defended by these brave soldiers rather than worrying about being attacked for being a free country.
Because we all know another 9-11 would be too devastating. Imagine the amount of bullshit that would do to our economy, I'd forsee a definate 1-2 dollar increase on gas. It would be terrible. Along with oil barrel prices, goes our lifestyle and it would be too hard to keep up with everything.
Those are my two cents on the leading parties candidates running for office.

I'm Canadian, and that's what I've heard. In Canada, if you don't have a good platform, you suck.

You are the first and last person I have heard mention that factor, EVER.
