The Ferengei are essential to the Star Trek psyche. Quark, Rom, Nog, all those characters were awesome. They're easy to hate, yes. But if you embrace their culture, they're easily one of best races in Star Trek.
You have embraced their culture? I guess you are a bigger fan than my brother and me. Anyway. I want to ask all the Star Trek fans on this website. (Only three of us:D) What would you do if you had the holodeck system? What different programs would you put in it?

Besides big orgy programs? I would maybe create a huge pool of balls. Like you know the ones at Chucky Cheeses? But this would be one that's like thirty feet deep and I can take a huge dive into these plastic balls. That would be crazy fun. You would eventually sink to the bottom with no way to crawl back up. So I might have an escape hole at the bottom.
What would you do if you had the holodeck system? What different programs would you put in it?
That's difficult for me to answer -- there would be so many possibilities.
Definitely a Minuet-type program, with my Minuet being... (ok, I'd have to make a menu of several choices)... Shakira, Rachel McAdams, Rachael Ray, Jennifer Garner, Jaime Koeppe, Jelena Abbou, Britt Miller, somebody stop me, Salma Hayek, Kate Beckinsale...
I'd have a training program similar to Worf's...
Or a holodeck version of Diablo...
Maybe some sort of driving simulator with a bevy of cool cars from which to choose...
You know what was weird about the holodeck though? If the holodeck itself has certain dimensions to it, how come you could walk so far away from another person inside the holodeck? Cause like, if someone is playing baseball on the holodeck, and they're up to bat, and there's another real person inside the holodeck in right field, that doesn't make any sense cause when they turn the holodeck off, obviously the room itself isn't that big that two real people could go that far away from each other. That always bugged me about the holodeck.
Not to mention the numerous episodes in Star Trek where the holodeck went awry and they made an entire episode out of it. You'd think they would just get rid of it because of how hazardous it can potentially be.
As far as the distance thing, I just chalked it up to the holodeck having some kind of capacity to alter motion-perception.
And even though things like the Moriarty occurrences did wreak havoc, I think the potential uses of the holodeck (speaking beyond the personal fantasy option) outweighed the occasional glitch.
I mean, if they were to scrap a piece of technology because of such problems, they might just as well stay home altogether; the dangers of far-reaching space exploration being what they were.
I always thought the holodeck would make it bigger, because of how it was in your mind. Sometthing like that, but that is my description of it. I would want to join you Sianoq. The bin of big balls to jump in. It would be hella fun.:D

Will most agree when I say the TNG is my favorite?
Probably TNG is my favorite, yeah. But DS9 is easily my second favorite.

But then it would be altering the person's perception. I just think it was a thing about the holodeck that most Star Trek fans chose to ignore because of all the fun adventures being had in the holodeck. But like, when someone was trapped inside the holodeck, the safety protocols disengaged, unable to beam anybody out, I'm thinking, come on, they're just inside this small room. Shut down the power to the holodeck and just drill a hole through the door or something.

Yeah I guess so. But I wouldn't compare the dangers of exploring space to the potential dangers of the holodeck system and the logic for keeping the holodeck being the same as exploring space. Maybe they should've just downgraded the technology a bit to be on the safe side.
DS9 gets really really good in the last two seasons. And it starts dealing with issues in a more straightforward way such as racism, religiosity, and hypocrisy. In the thick of the war with the Dominions, many of the character's worst traits start resurfacing a lot and it's really interesting to watch. Especially with Kira and Sisko.
I just never liked it. I really dont know why. I still watched every singles episode though. I just really did not like the whole big ass ship that they had. Or whatever it was. I admit, some episodes were really good, but I really did not get into it like TNG.

Hmm, I might encourage you later in the future to watch it again and reevaluate it. I think TNG and DS9 are equally as good, but for different reasons. TNG focuses more on the moral of the story more than DS9, but DS9 has more of a linear plot to follow which frequently, yet not to obviously suggests different morals.
I have a really difficult time making choices with regard to huge over-arcing stories that are portrayed via different incarnations (each Star Trek series being a separate incarnation of the Star Trek storyline, in this case; same problem I have when faced with comparing the two parts of the Diablo storyline).
Each incarnation comprises a part of the whole, and it's the whole that I look at.

I have every single episode ever created for DS9, so I shall rewatch all of them again, and see if they are worthy of my praise.:D
