If Pakistan wasn't precarious enough lately, Bhutto's assassination makes things so much worse. Now there is rioting in the streets and Musharraf has declared another state of emergency.
The whole thing is terribly tragic. I'm trying to learn more about the assassination, but happened in the last 24 hours so there is still not much information about it.
Yeah, she was actually always naive about the likelihood of her assassination, even after an attempt was made on her life. But I think her naivete was merely coupled by her optimism of democracy in Pakistan. What I think is also somewhat ironic is how receptive Muslisms are to martyrs. And so frequently there is martyrdom for extremist Islam, which is often known to push moderate Muslims over to extremism. But in this case, Bhutto died as someone who wanted democracy for Pakistan and her message is being resonated throughout Islamic states now more than ever.

Wow thats actually a really good point. People never think of it that way. It isnt a sad day for democracy, its just a reminder for it.
Terrorists will never learn. Look at 9/11. After 9/11 look how America's morale was, it was strengthened.
When they perform a terrorist act and walk away glad they killed somebody and thinking that they are winning, when actually they are just making their victims stronger.
I just saw that on news yesterday. It was reported that after the death of Bhutto, the dreams for democracy of the pakis were broken. And now Mr. Musharraf says that next may be his turn.
What if Musharraf killed her?

Musharraf would've had nothing to gain by killing her. Yes, she was incredibly popular in Pakistan and even if Musharraf had something to do with her death, such a conspiracy would never be kept under wraps for long. Musharraf may be a stagnant career politician whose clinging to power, but he would never stoop to arranging the assassination of Bhutto. You could argue that the government of Pakistan was somehow indirectly responsible for not providing Bhutto with adequate protection, but no matter the degree of protection she had, Bhutto would have remained politically active in her country anyway and continued to attend rallies and give speeches.
That is right. This kind of death is common in politics now.

Do extremists just totally ignore what democracy has to offer? I think if they spent a week in America, they'd change their beliefs lol
Most extremists (I said most) are males. A fundamental Islamic state would have a lot more to offer males than both genders. Males in the Taliban don't care for democracy cause they have it pretty good relative to everyone else.
Bhutto did not die because of any bullet or explosion.
When she saw people cheering for her she opened her sunroof and stood up waving at them. Suddenly 3 shots were fired but none of them hit her. And a moment later a suicide bomber on the left side of her car exploded. To hide from the explosion she tried to duck inside the car just when, because of the bomb's pressure, her head bashed with the lever on the right side of her sunroof. Thus ending in a fracture of her skull and her death.
