Don't give me that shit, Phrozen. We don't have the game. Everyone has to make money, but marketing is a way to get more money than your game deserves. Good games sell, period. Look at blizzard. They had any of that crap? No. And what are they now, richest company. Because they had great games and great support of their games.
Expansions are not p2p, that's the problem. So if a part of singleplayer is cut off and it is passed on with multiplayer (which i don't give a damn about), that's kind of ridiculous.
Diablo makes a devilishly delightful appearance in Blizzard's first-ever television advertising campaign. Featuring cuts from the cinematic sequences and a powerful movie trailer style treatment and voice-over, this 30 second spot is filled with tension and excitement.
Diablo II comes to life in this alternate television spot that never aired. A Barbarian trims his hedges with mighty swings from his trusted axe and a neighboring necromancer sets his barbecue alight with unholy fire as one man begins to see the world of Diablo II everywhere.

Maybe you can't remember that far back, but how I found Warcraft the original was at Compusa in the form of a 5" Floppy Demo at the checkout counter. I later purchased the game on 3.5. Then came Warcraft 2 with a free demo of Diablo. (Marketing their own game title's) Back in that general era not everyone could even afford computers in the general household so money put into heavy marketing schemes would have been useless because the general population did not have computers. Would have been throwing away their money.

Who's tool, I wonder? I'm not the one protecting game companies here.
And what are you trying to show me with those things? I don't see anything even close to what Hellagate is doing on there.
Television advertisement is just advertisement, Blizzard didn't fool anyone into anything. If they showed a cinematic, it was there, if they showed a gameplay video, it was a real gameplay video, nothing pre-rendered there.

Demo's are ones of the fairest things companies ever created.

Same here. Demo's show you a portion of the game. Otherwise, you are buying a cat in the sack. [/quote]
And back 7 years ago, I lived in a whole different country so of course I can't remember anything. I bought these games because everyone had them and everyone loved them because they were really good games.
Whats to protect? Game companies are exactly that, COMPANIES. They make money by marketing merchandizing and doign whatever they can to make a profit so they can expand and make it better for the consumer. Hellgate is attempting to do the same thing. Unfortunately their competition is that much higher now in an established market. When Blizzard came along there was no real established market of game companies. There were few but not like the giants of today. Flagship studio's is just doing what they can to make a profit from people who enjoy their product.
Warcraft I demo was a purchase. You had to pay money for it. Its been a long time but I remember the sum being around 1-3 US dollar range.
Television marketing is paid to advertise to get people to play the game. Its propaganda but your opinion feels there is nothing wrong with it because its good cinematics.
Demo's are specifically built to showcase key attributes of their game to sell a person to purchase their product. Thats why there is an added disclaimer now to all game demo's. "Actual product may be signifigantly different in the full version of the game." They do this so they do not mislead the consumer.
And back 7 years ago, I lived in a whole different country so of course I can't remember anything. I bought these games because everyone had them and everyone loved them because they were really good games.
You seem to be the type of person that purchases through word of mouth. So why don't you wait for the game to come out, then base your opinion on what everyone else thinks.
Summary: Every game company does their own level of marketing to turn a buck. Don't be suprised by that. Its a buisness. If you don't agree with them and their buisness practice then the best thing you can do is not support them by not purchasing their product(s).
You made a statement that Blizzard did not have to market their products. You couldn't be more wrong. Every company does. Otherwise they would be listed as a "non-profit organization" on their taxes. They would aslo not be making enough of a profit to buy new technology to build the games of the future and to stay on that cutting edge.

Did Crytek did anything similar to what Flagship did?

I kind of was. Until games became too popular and now there are so many of them there is a pop section of games and it is very hard to draw the line between good games and pop games. Today, all you can do is dl the game to see if you like it.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=uaf5RwAjnwM I just got done watching this trailer. I enjoyed the standard uber sexy female agent with the rubber pants that ride up her butt.
I don't like it when girls in schools wear their pants down so that you can see their butts, ew. Besides, it's unrealistic. No one is going to try to look sexy in war times. They would, in fact, AVOID trying to look sexy.
I like some degree of sex appeal in video games. But they usually take it too far. And it's like you said, in times of war, why would anyone dress like that? It makes you care for the characters just a little less. I think it can even insult the intelligence of the gamer. It's like, "We better sex this game up real good or no one will play it." If there was a realistic reason for characters to appear that way, I don't mind. But these trailers for this game I've been watching haven't so far justified it for me.
Well, dont forget about those High Heels she was wearing in the video XD
Everyone loves to do demon fighting in high heels!!
Maybe you should attempt to be more sexy?
Since..I think jury rules all men SICK SEX OBSESSED freaks.
which Im fine with.
hmm my girlfriend(whos very attractive) does alot of little things to tease me.
I don't know.
But men, were so weak.
AMEN!?? ANYONE?
(seriously tho, watch the video shes wearing high heels)
But i don't understand why anything has got to be realistic in an unrealistic game?
I guess it depends on if you equate fiction to unrealisitic. Cause obviously, the idea of having demons run amok in London is unrealistic, but that is just the fiction of it. So when it comes down to what I don't like being unlrealistic, is why would some of these characters be running around a place with broken glass, sharp pointy things sticking out everywhere and fire, while wearing a skimpy lingerie outfit? Or any outfit that doesn't appear to protect well againt the elements? Or an outfit that you would trip on.
Well, dont forget about those High Heels she was wearing in the video XD

Yep. That, too.

I'm not a whore. Those who look like that just want to randomly get laid or whatever. I'm not in that category. Intelligent guys don't show it, that's how you find them. ;p
Your girfriend does that only for YOU because she is YOUR girfriend. At least, I hope so.
Wtf? You never say that to a girl, you have much to learn my friend
Lol it was more of a jokingly blatant comment ><
I think I'm doing fine XD
learn,yeah I probably do.

no just kidding.
anyways.
You people are saying stuff like Why would the female run around in High Heels, while wearing a skimpy outfit lifting a huge weapon twice their size slaying gigantic demons of epic proportions.
In the end its just a game.
And, I really dont like it when people tend to complain about realism in games.

A game that behaves like that has a very big chance of being a bad games because it seems to be aimed at a group of people who like seeing buts because they don't have their own girfriends to look at or something. So it's dragging a certain piece of audience. Teen audience. Most games aimed at themes have a lot of elements I am greatly annoyed at, and they are not sexy clothes or whatever.
Games are to be realistic to be immersive. And I have yet to see how this game is unrealistic, it's pretty realistic to me except heels/clothes.
This reminds me of a conversation I had once about Kerrigan from Starcraft; before she was infested. She was interesting because, yes, she did have a limited amount of sex appeal, but she was also not too attractive and she had grit and cynicism. She even managed to have good dialogue. And most importantly for a character, she showed weaknesses and fear. It's hard for me to get into fictional characters when they always keep their cool no matter what. It's more interesting to see someone who's highly trained to still struggle and make mistakes and slip up from time to time.
Your a tool.

You're right. There better be a hardcore sex scene with that female agent. I don't wanna get ripped off either.
Yeah, it was precisely what irritated me about Ghost's main character.
