design an act what it should be called what quests should be in it what bosses should be in it and if there should be side quests and if there's a plot
Actually this is a pretty cool idea. If I have time I'll do this later.
If anyone's interested in writing or lore then they should be interested in this too. I don't think it's fair to shoot someone down just like that, Night. Try to think of people's feelings, even if this is just the internet.
I'd like to do it. However, I'm still kind of stuck on the NPC I've been writing. It's harder than I thought it would be. I've gone through several revisions, then found myself entirely scrapping whole ideas. I'm not sure I'd ever be satisfied with a final draft of designing an act.
Plastic Complex and I had already planned to make this thread. but since we already have design a Boss and Design a NPC already going we figured 2 was enough for now.

yet another reason we decided to delay the creation of this thread.
designing an act requires the work of all previous contests, weapons, armor, boss, NPC, then you still have to design a town, where in sanctuary you will situated, what area or time period it is based on, while the majority is medival, act 2 leaned more towards ancient times, specifcally Egypt and the Middle East, act 3 had more of a South/Central American fell to it.
Act 1 maintained the classic medieval European look and feel.
and based on the location several of the monsters would be from that area, while some are just generic monsters. act 2 was based on egypt so you have mummies and scarabs, act 2 was based on South/central americas, the jungles esp. so it had monsters that reflected that, indiginous jungle dwellers, mosquitos and the like.
act 1 was of course the same area that the first game was set in, so it used a lot of the same monsters.

act heaven you get to walk on a golden road to meet with god but on the wat you have to defeat baal's and diablo's minions then you have to face 2 dragons in order to meet with god after that you have to face god as a test to get his knowlage to seal up the prime evils for ever he gives you gear that gives 4 to all skills to defeat all the evil except the devil him self
there is no mention of God or a god in the christian or Judaism sense of the word in Diablo if that is what your thinking.
The High Heavens are ruled by members of the Seraphim as best i can figure it.

saw that in a movie/tv show. same concept - enemy acts like your ally. helps. defeats.
the act is situated in western Westmarch, the land of the Holy Paladin. the men walk around constantly awaiting battle, such as what you see in Minas Tirith of LOTR, only having crosses imbedded onto their armors and holy scriptures in their swords. color among men is equal, they all worship the same divine power.
Time:
the worldstone has been destroyed for several years now, however the three Prime Evils have managed to bring pandemonium for humanit, so far away from their temporary exile in the Burning Hells. they have negotiated with the Lesser Evils, and are all working on freeing themselves from their cage.
Situation:
in an effort to throw our heroes off, they choose to launch a massive attack Westmarch, where a path exists straight to heaven. armies march out of the mouth of hell onto the land, and are sent upon the Westmarch capital, Duncraig, where the lone path to heaven exists. our heroes have a decision to make, defend the capital, or venture into hell against all odds and foil the Three's plan to escape.
People:
Deckard Cain, Tyrael, and Quel-Kehk follow us to the capital city. Quel-Kehk brings barbarian elites to the battle, hoping to help where he can, and Tyrael is a source of information and coucil. deckard cain roams about the city, mumbling to himself, age has bee cruel to his sanity. others among the city are there to help as well. a new mercenary is available, a young paladin eager for adventure.
Quests:
there are two quests for this act, they are very simple but difficult. you must make your way around the armies of hell, and slip through a crack in the earth into hell. there are many, and all take you to Pergatory, the transition stage from earth to the rivers of lava. as you make your way down the levels, our heroes gain armor and weapons beyond belief, treasures that were lost to humanity either through corruption or death of their owners. much like in the first diablo.
finally you make it to the last level, your first quest is complete. now you must slay the Lesser Evils as they work endlessly to free their masters from the outside of their imprisonment. you slay them both, and thus your second quest is completed. during the fight however, a weakness was made onto realm on which the Three remain, and they start blasting away at it, their attacks in vain no longer. soon it will be over. the three will escape their prison more powerful than before, and with the Lesser Evils behind them.
a green portal appears, and slowly begins to open. our heroes prepare to fight the hardest and longest fight, though knowing that in the end they will fall. suddenly from behind them appears a blue portal, and through it runs deckard cain. behind him bursts tyrael, trying to hold him back yelling "dont fool!!" cain's eyes burn white, and tyrael can no longer intervene. he simply kneels on one knee and begins to recite a prayer.
our heroes look on cain in confusement. he no longer seems old, insane, and tired. he looks alive, and he looks at them gravely. "i am sorry my friends this is the end for us." with that he walks bravely to the green portal, and with a staff he begins chanting something in a long forgotten language. a white aura surrounds him, and he stabs the top of the staff into the portal. wind, screams, and souls howl past him as he struggles with all his strength to keep the staff in place. soon however he was himself made to light, white shining light, and the portal was sealed.
our heroes and tyrael look on with reverence and honor, for deckard cain made the ultimate sacrifice such as tal rasha, or the wanderer had done. however, this was no different than with those. the spell and his life energy would not hold long. in less than 100 years the three will be able to cross over again.
this act is a prequel to diablo 3, such as a demo, or even a patch for LoD. i still havent worked out all the wording and fine details, but this should satiate all who are looking for a good story/plot/idea/steal. let me know what you guys think!!

The design a boss thread ain't doing too hot.
I need to finish mine up and post him.
It's kind of hard to design an Act IMO
