in episode 216 (the Deep South) its filament but in episode 303 (the cryonic woman) its tether, huh weird?
guess we are both right.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

The idea of Diablo 3 being an mmorpg wants to make me projectile vomit all over my computer, most mmorpgs are slow boring repetitive level grinds whereas Diablo is action. No massive cooldowns, just pure anarchy

I think most people here share that sentiment. At least of not wishing that Diablo ever become an MMORPG. There's lots of arguments either way expounding on that, but I personally believe it won't happen. At least not before a regular Diablo game was announced first.
Is a game set in the world of Sanctuary that is more of a MMO totally out of the question?
I dont think so. Id love to be able to have more customization of my characters. maybe make a female necromancer, or a male assassin to name a few. It would still be fairly diablo-esque as you wouldnt be able to choose a race, like you can in other MMOs, (WOW, LOTRO), an aspect of Diablo im rather fond of, its lack of for lack of a better word "tolkienesque" races. It makes the Diablo world a little closer to our world, also having a similar timeline, Diablo is set in the equivalent of our Middle ages, this is back up by lore and character dialogues which place the game in around the year 1250 sanctuary reckoning, and being able to choose how your character looks would decrease the chance of everyone's characters looking the same.
a large number of the suggestions here in the 3rd post down, lean more towards MMORPG than RPG, but work or should work well in either one, and should produce a very entertaining game.
but my main, or one of my main hopes is, it, unlike WOW, has no fees. why cant they make really good Single player RPGs, that just happen to have great multiplayer anymore? you know games like Diablo, LOD, BGII, IWD? these games had awesome (offline) single player, not it seems its all about multiplayer, so story and character takes a back seat to PvP and the like. What was the point of WOW run around killing people and uh.. getting good items. What happened to games that were story/quest driven? putting to gether a team of friends to go slay a treasure hoarding dragon or throng of rampaging trolls who are terrorising helpless farmers, what do you do in WOW again get soem friends and go bash noobs? coz it seems like thats the case, when im sure the intention was story and quests.
but before anything like this happens id expect another game like LOD, i.e RPG, hack & slash, action and adventure whatever you want to call it to happen first.

when i think of mmos i think or stupid quests, level grinds, large open but boring landscapes, taking 5 minutes to kill 1 monster, and big spell cooldowns.. although i havent played loads of mmorpgs
in WoW how did they integrate storyline and lore into the gameplay? usually mmorpgs are lacking in storyline (the pathetic ones ive played)

The quests have lore. Granted you can skip the lore and just do the quests, like I did. But when I started over in the new server with Fudlow I pay attention to the quest, and the other aspects of it. It's not as included as Diablo or Diablo 2, in those you needed to know a bit of the lore to find out whats going on. But WoW is good, I like it, and as soon as Diablo 3 comes out I'm probably going to forget I ever had a WoW account or WoW altogether. Such is the way of the Diablo fanatic.
yes, i didnt think WOW would be all that story/lore driven, i had no idea you could just bypass it.
its seems gone are the days when you could get a group of friends together and hunt down a revenge seeking evil mage who stole your soul, all the while trying to come to terms with your tainted bloodline as the child of the dead lord or murder.

You can't toggle it off or on, you can just read the objectives and scan through the info to get what you need to carry out the quest. More of a tune out thing. This time though I pay close attention to the quests, and they do tie in together little by little in one way or another, at least the quest chains do. There are some that require you to grind a type of enemy until you get enough of an item, but it seems better than GW where its more out-right. WoW at least makes you feel like a part of the game.
And as for the gathering and going off to kill something, WoW does provide that with quests needing you to go into an instance. Instances are areas that have Elite creatures, too powerful for a player of the same level to kill. However a group of the same lvl can go through the instance alot easier. It's all fun, and there is something in WoW for everyone. All people have to do is give it a try.
I have just never liked the idea of continued payments for a game you have already payed for. Once this catches on then all game developers will want to do it.
Well, Guild Wars doesn't. And WoW isn't Blizzards Uber-Game, it's their cash-cow so they can make their Uber-Game. I just hope their Uber-Game doesn't turn into a cash cow as well.
i rekon "Sanctuary" would be the best name for an MMORPG Diablo game
if we post some suggestions here for an MMORPG diablo gamename, then we could have a poll on the most liked name i dont know even know how to create a poll though im a "forum noob"

Either way, it belonged to the Professor's grandmother.

That is your opinion and justly respected. All I ask is that you don't turn into a degenerate that just bad-talks WoW because of its success.

- World of Diablo
- Sanctuary
- Diablo 3
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
well just off the top of my head, what about
the Domain of Diablo - DOD
or
the Realm of Diablo - ROD
or
Portal of the Prime Evils - POPE? .... maybe not that one
