parts have this may have been discussed already I dunno as im a new member and havent read all the storylines yet...
with the world stone shattered and the barrier between the worlds broken the heaven and hells began to merge with the sanctuary. With the destruction of the three prime evils Azmodan and Belial remade their pact and focused on the destruction of both the mortal and angelic races.
fearing the reprocussions for his deeds The Arch-Angel Tyreal has gone into hiding from the forces of the high heaven as they prepare for what may be the ending of the great conflict.
This here would only be a prolouge to actual gameplay as I would have the game set near the end of the war so if you like where this is going I can continue it and also tell you of some gameplay ideas that I have.
That's pretty believable for the most part. I on the other hand have my own theories about the consequences of the Worldstone's destruction, but my ideas kind of indicate there can be no sequel. Anyway, check out the Diablo3 threads and there should be lots of possible storylines like this you can cross reference.
im basing the result of the world stone destruction from what ive read in all the diablo books and manuels.....it's purpose is to keep the power of the nephalem in check and keep the sanctuary separate from the other realms(it was created by inarius to keep the sanctuary a secret) although i am interested to hear your theories

That pretty much sounds like the general idea for a sequel around here.

i dont think that there is any way that an angel can hide from God...
Which assumes that there is a God in the first place, something we've seen no evidence for in the Diablo Lore.

I really don't think there is a God god in Diablo. Just a council of Archangels. And even then, I tend to think of the Prime Evils and the Archangels are more of demigods. That even these beings don't fully know how things came into existence.
ya theres definatly not a god It says somewhere in the second sin wars book that the angels are ruled by a council.....although I cant remeber its name....ill look tho
ok well then the council would act as the god like figure or figures... and plus hes huge as hell and gives off a light thats brighter than burning magnesium
ya so ive read some more storylines and I think my gets more unique as it goes on so im gonna post some more of it
After an extensive war lasting many years it seems the demonic hordes are close to victory. The Angelic race is near extinction and the remaining humans have gone into hiding to avoid death. As demonic corruption grips the new purged world the sanctuary begins to morph and change into a new hell. fearing the human race is doomed Tyreal emerges from his exile and gathers the strongest human heros he can find and forms a new Horadric order. he reveals to the order that during his exile he created new soulstones which could hold the souls of multiple demons. not only this but after a soul was captured the holder of the soulstone could leach the power of the demon within to add to his/her own. With the new Horodric order in place Tyreal sends out the heros too capture the souls of the most powerful demons knowing that with no one powerful directing the demon armies that infighting would eventually destroy the remaining demons
so thats where the game would start you would get all of your original classes although i think it would be cooler if you could choose male or female for each of them excluding barbs(male) and amazons(female). perhaps we could have some new char i dunno I would have to do some thinking on what they could be.
so the missions could then be given to you by tyreal where you would be given backrounds on the demons your going after(to add to diablo lore..and for some interesting reading) and then you would have to seek them out kill there minions and take their soul. there would also be quests that you would do that dont involve taking souls to avoid repetitevness such as destroying certain artifacts or monunments set up by azmodan and belial to morph the world into the hell its becoming....or accquiring power angelic weapons that were dropped when powerful archangels were killed. as the game goes on and you get more demon souls you become more powerful because of the demon souls in your possesion so your abilities become more powerful but also increasingly demonic in nature. I also think it would be interesting that your physical appearance began to change with it. so in the end perhaps we could have the character turn evil himself leaving the oppurtunity for a expansion..
well thats it for now.......please give me your feed back
ok well then the council would act as the god like figure or figures... and plus hes huge as hell and gives off a light thats brighter than burning magnesium
Actually, both Tyrael and Inarius seems to have been part of the Council. Which is by the way not an entity, but a name for a group of individuals.

I do not see the reason for any band of survivors to be i nany way linked to the Horadrim. They were a tenous alliance amongst mage clans, not just any humans. I doubt any invasion by Hell is going to be so picky that they purposefully leave all mages alive and kill the rest. In addition to that, I think most people have a slight dislike for the Horadrim. Sure they imprisoned the Three, but if they'd been smarter and less greedy, the world wouldn't be in it's current shithole.
Integrating demon powers and angelic powers is a concept I like, and one that seems fairly reasonable given the world's state. but I do not like the idea of incorporating even more Soulstones. They were decoys, part of the Three's plan, and so why would Tyrael use them at all?

The new horadric order is not the same old horadrim in essence and certainly not ruled by the same means and inhibitions. the first horadrim was contained several mage clans yes. while this new horadric order contains all heros of anysort who are capable and willing to stand up to demonic threat. And even if it were compromised of mages alone demons woulnt have purposely left them alive they were just strong enough to manage to stay alive. And technically I wasnt the horadrims fault that the world got messed up cause they didnt let the demons go....they just werent there to stop them a second time.

As for this....i said that they are not the old run of the mill soulstones used by the first horadrim so they have their flaws fixed for the most part....if you dont like soulstones dont even think of them as that they could get a new name....or perhaps not even be stones at all(although it is the most likley option). I was just using soulstones to provide a tangable thought
I don't think I like the idea of a new Horadrim. It just sounds like it would be a diluted form of the original one. And if its foundation is nothing like the original Horadrim, why would it even be called the Horadrim? Besides, it reminds me to much of a New Jedi Order.

Now clarify for me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Soulstones originally created by Hell? Izual, as I see it, tricket Heaven into using them.
If that is true, then Heaven didn't create them, and their purpose was never to imprison demons successfully. In essence, they were already perfect, so why would Heaven after that be able to remove any flaws from it? To me it sounds like they need a whole new contraption.

Here is one possible storyline. In tristram Cain was possesed by the Belail or other less evils and in aiding you in diablo lod 2 he managed to get rid of all major obstacles and there is one more worldstone on the other part of the world which he plans to use in order to bring demons out of hell.Tyrael holds key to destroy this worldstone his lightsabre or whatever but he is missing.Search for tyrel may begin...
Then I was confused by your use of the term "Soulstone". Perhaps if they're not linked together it could be given another name?
They could easily been given A new name I was just using soul stone to give a idea of the contraption...I also gave the thought of the soul stealing item being a weapon and the hero would like plunge his blade or axe..etc into the demons heart after defeating it and then sucking its soul...but then to do that we would have to have only one never changing weapon and that would suck

yea angels can do that....im asumming all of them can at least as Inarius in the sin wars seemed to do it fairly easily
