Starts off were d2 ended tyreal just shattered the worldstone, however the worldstone was like a giant soulstone and all these souls come rushing out and tyreal falls and gits hit by a piece and gets possesed. And tyreals true soul gets trapped in hell. And since the 3 brothers are basically immortal and seeing the most powerful being in the worlds body defensless not just diablo but baal and mephisto take over tyreals body.and are allowed access to heaven. So in a madder of days diablo becomes ruler over hell heaven and earth and your sittin here like wtf.So now everythings in ruins n everything is like dead n waisted. And your standing by cain who is about to die (Because this big war of the worlds just took place)and hes sayin your our only hope...ect.and gives you an odd assortment of items when fused in the horadric cube creates a portal to the past.and you take it and you go back all the way before tal rasha and back to how diablo first was created and how the hardric stuff was created and you play all the way back to were you started only to do nothing but be back were you started but youve got a few advantages from the past(just play n find out YEHAWW)
pretty good start but i dont like the going back in time it doesnt add enough new thrills or mystery i mean if we would go back in time why woodnt we just go back n stop tyreal but to add to your storyline baal n diablo take over tyreal and the heros(you) body n mephisto takes one once they get into heaven

I've served my time in Hell sir,
So may i venture in?
ok but win u go bak you find diablos secret and in one whole act ur trapped in hell and go threw heaven everything and besides dat u dont wanna kill tyreal u wanna kill the brothers (diablo baal mesphisto) who possesed him then you end up gettin bak to were u started and not only kill the possesed tyreal but you got to kill yourself who was posswesed by evil as well so have fun
I like the back in time idea but I think it should be Diablo who goes back in time, and he should capture the character you are in the original Diablo, once he's done that it means he wins and took over the earth, Cain should send us back to the same timeline as Diablo and our mission is to free the original Hero and destroy Diablo, once one Diablo was destroyed the future Diablo would then escape and the new hero would have to follow him leaving the original Hero possessed just like before.
Then Diablo should then go and mess with the events of Diablo 2 this time he kills the second hero leaving his counter part unopposed so then you have to pick up his trail while trying to do what the second hero did so as not to mess up the time line, and perhaps this time around you kill Baal just before he figures out how to corrupt the world stone there fore leaving the world ok but there's still a Diablo out there, and that's where a new adventure should start.
1. I believe tristram should be in each of them except a little different (as the years pass) it should be destroyed in timeline 2 but rebuilt in timeline 3 and every jump should be centered in Tristram for some reason.
2. Instead of Normal, Nightmare and Hell I think Timeline 1 should be Normal, Timeline 2 should be Nightmare and Timeline 3 should be Hell.
3. I think the game should be all 3D like Gothic, Gothic 2 or the up and coming Gothic 3 (if you have not played these games I would suggest it they are awesome)
I have just now decided that I don't care for the Back to the Future theory. It is a little too busy for me, and I think it will end up being the same way for the D3 consumer base. You have got to put yourself in the shoes of Blizzard's target market. Sure, the game will obviously be rated mature, but the majority of the people playing the game will still be 12-14 year old male teenagers, who have the attention spans of, well, 12-14 year old male teenagers. They aren't going to want to think about such a complicated storyline, just kill things. Too busy of a plotline, I think.

Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you're a man, you take it.
If they just want to kill things they can play online like Diablo 2 and just slaughter things, or they can skip the cut scenes and just kill things, Diablo 2 has a story line but people play that, just because you change to a new area doesn't mean you have to follow a story line, so why not give us that want a nice story line the chance to see one but like Diablo 2 its very much not required to actually play the game. I mean honestly if all you care about is killing things would you care that when you change "acts" you are in a different time? so why not conform to every one instead of just 14 year olds that can play F.E.A.R. or Half-Life 2 if all they want to do is kill stuff.

Well said. Unfortunately, I don't think Blizzard would agree with you. As much as I would like to believe the opposite, companies are putting out games for one purpose: to make as much money as possible. They don't care how innovative a game is, so long as people buy it. That is the only reason you are going to see a third installment in the Diablo series. Blizzard already knows it will sell. If they change the format for the game too much, it turns into a risk.

Indeed, they have no reason to change it anyway, the story already owns and anything they can rip off of the "worldstone end of the world" ending of d2exp will probably be just as good if not better then the orginal story.

Because if the invisible guy the president believes in isn't the real invisible guy then the real invisible guy gets mad and no longer powers our economy with his invisible hand. Jesus, have you never even read anything about economics?
Haha... yea im sorry to say, even though it was a great effort, your storyline just seems like "Back to the Future" movie series ;/
I think it should feed off of the worldstone, however just continue on to events caused by the destruction of the worldstone, instead of in the past, or way into the futre with laser guns and power armor (rofl) which i heard on a different board. Just my opinion though, your story line isnt "horrible" at all

I still stand by leaving Diablo out of the third installment if the game turns out to be a sequel. The worldstone corrupts the, well, world, and Blizzard can build off that. The franchise is well established enough that they can do pretty much whatever they want with this last game.
P.S. Besides go through time.

If they leave Diablo out of a full standalone Diablo game they better not call it Diablo that would suck, but who am I kidding if they made the end boss a pink bunny I'm sure millions would still buy it for the name on the box.
First and foremost, I believe diablo SHOULD be in HIS game (Not: the name is DIABLO). First, the prime evils are immortal, sure you kill them again, they go to hell, they come back, etc. With the worldstone destroyed, perhaps the barrier, for lack of better words, holding them in hell is destroyed, so not only the prime evils return to earth unbound by hell, but so do many many other evil creatures with them, I mean, there is PLENTY of space for new monsters, acts, quests, boss's, etc... if the story is really too large, just make an expansion a little while afterwards, leaving diablo out of the game completely, in my opinion, is a pretty bad idea ;/
