Khanduras is the province or area in which Tristram, and the Rogue Encampment are in.
Westmarch is the province or area to the extreme right of Sanctuary, this is the home of the Paladins. THe major towns here are Dun Craig, Westmarch, Bramwell and Kingsport
Aranoch, or rather the Desert of Aranoch is where Lut Gohlein and thus Act II of Diablo II is set.
Entsteig, is a province or area a little ways north of Khanduras, major towns or cities are Hillsfar and Tauruk.
Continuing north you reach the fringes of civilization, the home of the 12 barbarian tribes, major towns and cities are Harrogath and Sescheron (This is the Barbarian Captial).
going east you find Scosglen, this is where the Druids moved to when they split off from the barbarian tribes. Probably the most famous town or city here is Tu'r Du'lra, this is where the druids set up their colleges to further their studies of nature.
Now we we head south into Kehjistan, the home to the various magi clans.
First major town is Gea Kul, it is somewhat in between Scosglen and Kehjistan, it is also near the tomb of Bartuc. This isn't the necromancer home city as it's not eastern enough, nor it is deep in the jungle, but still not worthy.
Deep in the heart of Kehjistan is Kurast, which is both the former home of the Paladins, and the captial city of Kehjistan. The majority of the mage clans are based in this general area.
continuing south, but still staying in Kehjistan you have a small group of towns by the names of Toraja, Seram, Tulisam and Partha, now these are virtually on the coast near the sea of light, and not really all that eastern, not like Ureh.
Ureh is depending on which version of which map you are looking at, possibly the most eastern city. And is a good place to start, but Ureh is said to be a lost city which, with the help of its local sorcerers, got an entrance to Heaven, leaving all the treasures behind. Quov Tsin and Kentril Dumon venture to Ureh to reach the legendary treasures and knowledge left by the habitats of the mysterious city.
There is suppose to be some kind of necromantic temple or ruin beneath Ureh, but it is not the necromancer's home city.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Hmmm... Well, I'll keep that in mind. Meanwhile, I can either create a name for the city or just have my characters not mention it. (This is for the Diablo eNovel I'm writing btw).
The name of a 'city' of necromancers is never mentioned. And considering the nature of necromancers, i'd doubt they would even have one. They might have somewhere that they gather, but it would more resemble an outpost, much less a town. Definitely not a city. There seem to be two mentions of a gathering of necromancers on sanctuary that I can recall. One is the end of Kingdom of Shadow, and the other is when Zayl was tested by the elder priests (I think three of them, one of them appears to be a shade). They only ever mention the jungles as being their home, where they grew up, and everything. It seems like they are fairly in touch with nature/sanctuary, and do not build huge monuments or anything. Even Zayl's test was conducted outdoors (atleast I'm pretty sure they weren't in a building). If they had a city, then the elder priests would definitely be in a buildling.
They also seem to wander around sanctuary in solitude most of the time, only gathering for things like passing a test, or if it is something really important. They are taught to be independant. Though, I suppose, the elders still have to be somewhere. But then, they could just be in that same place as Trag'oul, which makes sense, cause thats where Rathma tends to stay and study.
As with most users of magic, the priests of the cult of Rathma hail from the far Eastern jungles. They reside in a vast underground city located deep within those jungles...
yeah, I just read that too. I was like 'oh crap, an underground city? quick, delete my post, delete my post!' but ah, too late. I was nearly gonna say 'i have a feeling there might be something underground', and I would have been right in that part, but yeah, oh well. I was going by what I remembered at the time, mostly coming from what is said about them from the novels. But yeah, so there is a city after all. I was also kind of saying that to remind the author on how they tend to behave. I deleted my post, but then regretted it straight away, wishing it gave me a second chance to cancel. But anyway.
They still aren't much of one for material value, so having a 'vast city' would likely serve to practice their art without fear of scaring outsiders.
They never mention the name of the city, its only mentioned in the manual, but still never a name. So name it what you want.
I spent a good deal of time last night going over the Kara Nightshadow chapters and I simply couldn't find it. Obviously the Necromancers have a capital, I just don't think it's in that book like I thought it was.
Noo, they wouldn't name a city Rathma. The word 'Rathma' in their language means 'student'. Mendeln, the second, changed his name to Kala or Kara or Kalla or something, and that means teacher. The city would be a word that means 'home' or 'safe' or something, so it wouldn't be Rathma.
Maybe try,
Ordrem?
Talam?
Tilaem?
Taelam?
Lerando?
I'm making up names here. I personally like Taelam.
I think I might just go the safe route and refer to it as The Nameless City. That way if some smart ass comes to me and says "that's not the name of the necromancer city, this is!" I'm covered. lol
Also it kinda fits with the Necromancers' personalities of secrecy.
ya i checked that out yesterday. i thik battle.net is making it up. for better information i would look in the necromancer section of the diablo 2 manual that came with the game. and if theres no city there than i would go with the nameless city.
EDIT...
well just read necromancer section in manual. battle.net just copied from the section in the manual. so call it a nameless city but still the vast underground city deep in the jungles.

You could always make a note about your novel not being offical lore, as well it's not, it might use a large chunk of it, but certain aspects are speculation, do not assume them to be fact.
I have to do that with the RP thread.

Personally, I'm still convinced it's somehwhere in the books and I have just missed it. But the name of the Necromancer's capitol seems significant that I would've taken more notice. Now I'm not convinced it's in any of the books. Unless it's in the last Sin War book which I've yet to read.
I don't think sanctuary uses german, or a language based on it, they do use latin though. In Diablo: Hellfire, you utter the phrase Inspiritu Sancti or Holy/sacred spirit/ghost.
I always liked to word Geisterbeschwörer. It's necromancer in german.
videlicet urbs, that's The Nameless City in Latin.

Believe it or not, in my book I've been referencing the language of the Followers of Rathma on Tolkien's Dwarvish. lol It fits surprisingly well, I think...
"Gathol Gundu" would mean Underground Fortress, for example.

Hmmm.. I really like that idea actually. The unspoken city / the nameless city. Something like that.
