Player Versus Player
A sizeable portion of the Diablo community has always enjoyed the fact that players can fight against each other. Diablo III has expanded this system in order to create a more robust player versus player (PvP) community.
There will be no world PvP as it was in Diablo II. Instead there will be separate PvP modes with the only confirmed so far being the Arena.
The Arena will not be available upon release, but instead added in a later patch.
In the Arena, players will fight each other in teams of 4 characters.
The Arena is a timed death match where each team racks up as many kills as they can in a given time.
You may create a team with your friends or you may be randomly grouped with other players.
Players cannot gain experience or items through the Arena.
The only reward for PvP will be improvements to the player's banner.
There will be an unseen ranking system that will help pit equally skilled players against one another through a matching system.
There is a possibility that Dueling will be added at a later time.

I enjoy hearing the teamwork aspect of pvp, instead of a FFA, relying on each other to accomplish a goal.
