I have been unable to play in US region (where all my characters and friends are) for 3 weeks. I was disconnected in party and when I tried to log back in I got error 10017 "Unable to join channel. You have joined the maximum number of this channel type. " Customer service said there is nothing they can do and I just need to wait it out.
Has anyone experienced this issue for so long? One of the blizzard forum admins said that this is the most persistent account issue he has seen, but can't offer a work around. I asked to have my account recreated and characters moved but they said they don't have the tools to do that. I asked for a refund but they said that since I already leveled a 70, it wouldn't be possible.
Does anyone have experience with escalating issues with Blizzard support?
As far as I know, I was not in any additional channels and was not in a clan. Customer service is stumped, but still unwilling to assist with other options.
At the end of each week this wasn't resolved, I sent a ticket to customer service. I just received a response on my request from today saying that they identified a root cause- a corrupt entry in a database that needs to be cleaned up manually. They said it should be resolved in two or three days. Crossing my fingers.
I remember seeing some blue posts saying that this issue would be fixed whenever the server went offline for maintenance. Has a server maintenance happened since your problem started?

I think that may be true- I am unaware of any server restarts in the past month. I requested that, if this is affecting enough users, to restart the servers proactively during scheduled maintenance windows to clear this up. One month (and counting) of missing playtime is unacceptable.

Indeed, it's totally unacceptable. I don't remember when was the last server maintenance, unfortunately
Started a chat with support from battle.net page and they could clear my cache from their end that way. Took me 10 minutes and the game was working again like normal, try that
Hi, I heard this works for most people. They tried this a couple days after it first happened with no success. Customer support said this is the most persistent case of this they have seen.
