Hello people of the internet,
On this video i would like to share some information about laggy servers and how to dodge them. This information was passed to me by one of my viewers and i have tested it for 20 times. I found that information somewhat accurate , meaning that "noon laggy" servers have determinately less lag. Ill also post the link of the google doc.. I want to say thanks to everyone who has spent time on this hard work.

P.S. google doc states that it only covers 90% of the servers as of today..
If this is true, it's some very iuseful info. But I'm usually very skeptical on things like these. It's a similar issue I had with the "legendary servers" theory.
How exactly is a server confirmed to be "laggy"? What are the factors? Is it because there's too many players in them? Why would only some specific servers be laggy? Who's testing all that (if at all)? Is he/she testing in different machines/ISPs/networks? Couldn't it be a network-related problem? Only EU servers have that problem?
I just feel like something as critical and serious as this needs a tad more evidence.
I wonder what EU players think of this. Is this really possible? If yes, shouldn't it be brought to Blizz's attention?
Are EU servers still lagging? Haven't played in a week. That sucks...
There are several discussions about the possible physical location of D3 EU servers. It's unlikely that they're distributed just like the WoW servers: In WoW you choose a realm and all players on that realm are on one specific server, an all servers are spread across Europe. Also, realms are subject to a specific language region. In D3, EU is regarded as a whole, there is no UK/German/French/... server. Therefore, everything points to one single server location. I did some traceroutes on the IPs in the Google Doc and all points to Paris, which makes sense as it's Blizzard's EU HQ.
About the spreadsheet, it makes absolutely no sense from a technical perspective. If it was that easy, the technical staff at Blizzard would know that there are some servers/cables/DNS settings/... that cause problems for a specific IP range. This is obviously not the case. To me it looks more like there are certain activity spikes that cause a packet loss, hence the lag.
But the most important thing for anyone who is playing EU (and not just testing it for 20 minutes): it's completely unpredictable. And that's what makes it so hard for Blizzard to fix. Last week I was playing for 1-2 hours with my friends, everything was just fine, and all of the sudden lagspikes hit us. Game was unplayable. On one night we had lags right from the start, one night it was fine. You never know if, when, and how hard it's gonna hit you.

servers are considered "laggy" when you die because of the lag or rubberband most of the time, if you played europe you would know excatly what i am talking about. Us servers do not have the lag as severe as europe and people can confirm this for me.. I havent played a game in eu for 2 weeks now for that reason.. this work has been done by quite few people and i have tested it 20 times meaning quit restart servers played it through etc.. thats the best evidence i can provide with the time i spent on this game so i hope people can try further and add commands to this post with their own experience because at the end this is why we are posting this kind of information to the forums to "discuss"
P.S. This answer havent been posted to bump the threat but just to share further info.. Thx..

Well, I did play on EU for some time. It was some months ago.
I thought I was gonna get a constant 350 ms ping (in Brazil), but as overneathe pointed out to me back then (and he was right) I got a very similar ping to US East, about 150-210 ms. I don't think I ever had lag problems on my 20-30 hours played there.
It actually felt better than US servers. But I'm not gonna use my experience as scientific evidence to say someone is right or wrong, I know there are too many factors and it's not that simple.

Hmm, that's fine. I thought maybe behind that spreadsheet there was a more technical explanation as to why servers lagged like this

Ouch. That's annoying. Spam Blizz with reports everyone?
just to clarify to every1, lag is our destiny whether you get green or red, but i strongly believe green servers are less laggy. I like to use the guide because i farm 5 stacks before hitting FOM, and once you are in FOM and you have lag, its pretty much GG so test before you enter.

since may 15 2012 i have been playing eu servers from New Orleans,U.S.(where i live) with a constant ping around 100-150 , however people maybe confirm this ;ping has been severe SINCE the dupe in U.S. servers and after the major ban wave many people switch to EU. Ofcourse its my hunch and no1 cares why or how lag started , we only care if/when blizzard going to fix them.
