I've been away from the game for a long long time since it felt quite... dead and unfun to run the same 2 places over and over again but since they announced the new expansion and the new random maps mechanics I felt like I could finally have a good excuse to play and enjoy the game again.
Aaand that brings me to the point of this topic: I decided that I'll start a character from scratch and experience the game again from the very beggining... that does not however mean that I don't wanna enjoy the perks of having lvl capped characters so my question is... how should I start preparing to roll a crusader once RoS arrives? What kind of equipments should I start hoarding to make the lvl 1~60 a fun (if face roll) experience?
All we know is that the Crusader will be a STR based class, so STR gear wouldn't be useless. Besides that, the usual stats/items for leveling up (+XP, +vit, and some special legendaries). I covered that in the gear section of my Speed Leveling guide a while ago. Even though the guide is based on getting leveled to 60 by a friend, the items are about the same (just get a bit more DPS).
Str vita items, and a weapon with a socket..then you stuff a 100 weapon damage gem in the weapon, and you're set up to level 43-44..then you buy a level 60 weapon with reduced level requirement and life steal..and stuff the weapon gem in that one. Remember that the crusader is a 1handed shield user,
I guess it depends on how you want to go. Me personally I am just going have a STR HFR ready to go but other than that I am going to enjoy leveling a new class and see how good the new loot 2.0 system feels.

Yeah, I'm agreeing with this right here.
I know people LOVE LOVE LOVE to pose a reasonable question in forums, like, "how should I build my character" or "what gear should I get"...but if there was ANY reason whatsoever to just pick a class, and experiment, it would be this right here.
By the time you get to play as the Crusader, Loot 2.0, Paragon 2.0, and all that stuff will be in place. You'll be getting a guaranteed legendary per new boss killed (plus any other "targeted" legendaries or good gear they announce before then), better class-specific gear drops, higher end loot overall...
Just experiement and see what happens. Start up a Crusader when RoS comes out, play self-found, try out every skill, test run every good piece of gear you get, and see what skill combos and gear choices work and what doesn't. That's my advice. Don't be eager to faceroll. Facerolling seems really glorious, but for a lot of facerollers...it's either boring, or gets treated like a job.
Thank you all very much for the tips... I'll try to get some of the gear Bagstone suggested to minize the chore a bit but... Cardinal made me rethink my approach on the whole thing. Aside the xp bonus and maybe a couple of gems, I'll go with self found and try out stuff.
I won't tell you to not seek out some stuff to buy, but like I said, this is absolutely the perfect opportunity to have a fresh go of things from the beginning the way the game should be played, and see if your experience from Normal Act 1 to Inferno feels any different.
Best part is, Loot 2.0 isn't part of the expansion, but part of its purpose is to allow people who already have insane gear to continue FINDING upgrades. At this point, there are still going to be people camping in the AH so they can buy new gear on Day 2 after the expansion hits, but my hope is that at least MOST of the people who vocally hate the AH on a regular basis put their gold where their mouth is and try going without it. If not when Loot 2.0 goes live, but when the expansion goes live.
Unfortunately, I have all 10 slots filled with characters, so if they give players at least one more character slot, I can't wait to start a Crusader and see how things feel from the beginning, :-)

Yep, thats about all I'm doing. Right now I'm just going to farm for a nice STR Hellfire, no plans to rip off my Barb, and have that ready for release. Other than that, just going to play through as per normal. The new game mechanics could change a lot of things, so I wont be keeping any gear, unless its a nice Strength Legendary that I think might come in handy.

Do you like Power Metal? Check it out!
I heard the Crusader has a passive that allows to 1 hand a 2 hand then equip a shield.

Have some nice pants at lvl 42. 90 Strength, 220 vit, 79 All res, 2 sockets with RS Rubies... going to build up a super set to be ready for RoS.
The Barber with Strength and Socket (RS ruby) at lvl 11 is a must!
