    Mempo of Twilight http://us.battle.net...mpo-of-twilight
This is a helmet with the picture of a samurai mask. A mempo is also a mask that samurais so the connection fits. While I could not find evidence of a media reference, the description talks about how it was used by the last of honor-bound warriors.
The helmet of the last of the honor-bound warriors. He roamed the far east long ago and lived and died by his code of honor.

    Um... The Last Samurai?

This one may be a reference to Jamie Lannister from A Song of Ice and Fire saga. If so the blade in-game we would expect to be golden.

First thing it reminded me of was the title received upon killing Arthas (the Lich King) in WoW. Without any flavor text we may never know!

The skin of the Helm and the description remind me of Voldo one of Soulcalibur characters

    Guess again!
"Do not trust your eyes; they can deceive you."
Luke Skywalker: But with the blast shield down, I can't even see! How am I supposed to fight? Ben Kenobi: Your eyes can deceive you. Don't trust them. Stretch out with your feelings!

I think diablo 1 uniques were a lot better. Quite original and cool names. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWtZd3shs_I Check this video if you want, shows almost all diablo unique items.

Now ,regarding diablo 3 legendary items, as someone stated earlier ,it really degrades diablo experience, I mean, having a logan's claw ,or 300th spear. That's really unoriginal and lame.

Whoa there sir. D1 is more original because it's flippin 15 years old! Every blizzard game has some easter eggs, or throwbacks like D3 has. Hell D2 had a ton as well. Also Bashiok posted the item list isn't even a fraction of the legendaries, and it's an outdated list anyway.

If you don't like them, don't use them. I think they are clever and funny =D

I added some of these items but I left out Longstriders because I could not find enough evidence that they were referencing Aragorn and the Rangers of the North.

Well, the helmet LOOKS like the cover of the movie, and the quote says "The helmet of the last of the honor-bound warriors. He roamed the far east long ago and lived and died by his code of honor". 'last' is in there, they say far east (samurai) and code of honor, which is synonymous with samurai . IDK It seems pretty obvious to me =P

Man, I started watching The Last Samurai recently after moving to Japan, and turned it off quickly. What a terribly cliched movie, it's just cookie cutter bullshit.

Reading the wikipedia page and other pages, I get how it could but I would expect something saying that the Warrior came from the West. And a Mempo is the helmets used by all Samurias so that helmet looking like the one in the poster ins't all that much of a connection. I may add it as a possible reference but at this time, I feel that there is not enough evidence to support it.

The Dark Knight/Batman reference that mentions the demon hunter Bayne is actually a reference to the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises where the main villain is Bane, therefore, Bruce Wayne --> Bayne --> Bane.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/odyn-son - That is Thors Hammer Mjöllnir... Odyn Son = Odins Son. And Thor is Odins son. Also Thor is the Norse God of Thunder... so the flavor text fits too.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/thunder-gods-vigor - Also a reference to Thor? Thor defends Asgard against the Giants... :/ not too sure.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/king-gileads-sword - Its mentioned in the comments... Gilead is a Kingdom in Stephen King's "Dark Tower" books. (It could also refer to a biblic kingdom^^)

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/quick-draw-belt - Wild West reference? But its nothing specific (nothing that I know of...)

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/justice-lantern - A "Green Lantern" reference... with the "feel no fear" quote :F

I just added Odyn Son and gave you credit for its find. I am not certain on the Thunder Gods Vigor though so I'll leave it out for now. I did the same with Quick Draw Belt though the description sure fits the Wild West shootout theme. I will be sure to do more research to see if there is any connection. If so, I will be sure to give you credit. Lastly, the Justice Lantern I also left out but not because I don't see the reference. I left it cause I feel that there could be a Justice League reference in there. I am not all knowing with comics so if you could help me pin the reference, I would be very glad.
