This is diablo, there are a small number of abilities that you need to learn to use per build, and one or two viable builds per character. The skill cap is relatively low. As long as you can follow a cookie cutter build / instructions, pretty much any of them will be fine.
From another perspective, no matter what you pick, if you play with tryhards, you're not going to have a "least critical" role.
So, again, pick one of the 4ish viable specs and run with it. Go crazy.
What is the easiest zdps class to play for speed rifts in Season 5?
I'm a below average skilled casual looking to get into some speed rifts so whichever role is the easiest / least critical would be best.
Thanks in advance for suggestions
Frankly, there is a stark difference between a good and bad zdps and it is very noticeable. The other problem you will run in to is lack of paragon. A good twister wiz is not going to waste their time with bad low paragon zdps. It wont be efficient for them and the group revolves around their potential. If you are looking to farm paragon you are behind the curve for the current season. Most clans wont even look at you unless you have 1k paragon today and that will go up to 1.1k by next week and continue to go up throughout the season.
I do not want to be discouraging to you but the reality is even good zdps with proper augments and leveled gems have a hard time finding a stable twist wiz.

Just going to jump in here and say that I *think* he is asking about a completely different level of play than you are referring to. Your idea of "most clans" is incredibly skewed towards people who are playing the game in typical tryhard fashion. Most clans, in actuality, are full of lots of people of MUCH lower paragon than you are implying.

You could be absolutely right considering the lack of information in the original post of intention. My view is in fact based on GR90+ groups. I would not personally feel compelled to play a support roll in such a group unless I was committing to the grind required of top 50 players. Mid to low range GRs can be done without zdps very easily so I assume anyone asking about zdps advice is in regard to high end GR progression.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions so far, I realise I cannot catch up to the top tier players but was hoping to get into some mid 70's or low 80's games
Currently only p600 in season with a sader so will probably need to roll / gear new toon which will take me a week.....

Yeah not trying to jump down your throat or anything. Current trend has a lot of groups doing GR70 and higher "requiring" people to conform to the current top end meta. It is by no means necessary, but such is the way of D3 culture. I kinda figured this guy was coming in after being told he had to play as one of the four acceptable builds in order to join a group, which, while completely untrue in the sense that it isn't required to be successful, is true in that most people aren't interested in doing anything other than what the top players are doing.
Ironically the top players have found ways to take advantage of that very culture by selling a less than optimal meta in order to keep to themselves more powerful builds and group setups. I suppose that is why the meta changes throughout each season as those more optimal setups become public. Static Charge from last season comes to mind.
