So, everyone should know by now that they should fix the "black weapon" bug on RoS / Loot 2.0, but how exactly they intend to do this? I have 2 questions about that,
The first one is: I have read the blog post about the fix but I didn't quite understood it... Can anybody help me with that? How EXACTLY elemental weapons / black weapons will work on 2.0? (I have played the PTR and haven't noticed any difference between the weapons from now and then.)
The second one is: If they are truly fixing black weapons does that means that elemental damage weapons will be as good as the black ones? And how does elemental damage on weapons works on DPS / ENEMY ? Does they add any effects or they are only visual? Is it good or it doesn't make any difference?
Elemental damage on D3 is a bit confusing since enemies doesn't seem to have weakness or resists. So if anyone could talk about that matter I would be pleased, Thanks for the help!
The black weapon bug is fixed on PTR/RoS beta, i.e., elemental damage bonus from items applies to all kinds of weapons. And yes, elemental damage weapons are as good as black ones. Actually, in some situations you even want elemental weapons.
I have 4 different weapons on my wizard in RoS beta, one with each different elemental damage: lightning, frost, arcane, fire, because the weapon elemental damage contributes to the multi-elemental wizard passive. Not sure what other benefits/effects elemental weapons have in RoS, but the black weapon bug is definitely fixed and thus elemental weapons aren't automatically "crap" anymore.
Since no one else answered yet, I'll take a shot:

I haven't actually tested this out on PTR, but I could have sworn that effects were added, such as arcane damage having a chance to charm enemies, fire adding a DoT, lightning having a chance to jump to other enemies, ect.
Really? It still isn't fixed? That sounds weird. Haven't found a legendary with elemental damage in RoS yet, but could've sworn it was fixed when I briefly checked it with the old 60 Triumvirate. Well, but it will be fixed at some point:
