Act IV should be almost Impossible to play? Especially when the game is at its climax I for one would love for them to make Act 4 harder than any other act with more monster density, because come on its the end of the game/story here. what does the "BLUES" think and what do other people think about the "END GAME" difficulty? (Let's make Act IV the most sought after hard(butt) place to farm with benefits, like hard as s*** with beast mode drops)? Inferno of course! What you guys/gals think?
1 : that's where the game was at the beginning. Many many people hit infenro, got killed by every mob in act 1 repeatedly and quit the game.
2 : if you are allready owning MP10 like it's nothing, then I think you kind of maxed out your char and when farming gets too boring, maybe start a new one ? Or HC ?
Act 4 is really hard. Especially on mp 10. you won't see people farming act 4 mp 10 effeciently. Even with godly gear you will die due to monsters that have op abilities like the Armadon's stun, the Morlu casters' knockback and meteors, the mallet lords' insane damage. All of those combined with some crazy elite affix combos... GG.
Should there be some kind of encounter in the game that is almost impossible to beat? Yes.
For example, I never did the Hellfire event in D2, but I imagine that must have been quite a difficult encounter. Something like that, but also something that is limited and not a farm spot; like a daily dungeon of uber monsters or so just for those who're interested in a particular challenge. Please don't make it MP15 - that's becoming kind of boring, plus I feel that MP10 is not really hard, it's just more time-consuming. Unless you play self-found, everyone can survive on MP10, but it takes ages to kill stuff unless you're super geared. A daily uber dungeon would be cool if it had really really hard-hitting monsters that would instakill all the glass canons and get people to think about different stats on gear (e.g., prioritize allres, armor, vit on gloves/amulet over trifecta).
They can't make the game too hard, they've already tried..they cater to the WoW business model now. Make everyone happy, make everything accessible.
Inferno pre 1.06(?) or whatever patch it was was about the same level as MP3 is now. They've nerfed it, nerfed monster affixes, nerfed health pools, up'd items. I can only hope with the next Itemization patch, they scale up mob hp/dmg to offset this. The game is easy enough as it is.

Not sure if you've been to Act 4 since patch 1.0.8, but even the small boosts in mob density in places like the Gardens of Hope and the Silver Spire have at least increased the difficulty by a bit. Example....pre-patch, I used to do a long, extended run starting at the quest to kill Cydaea all the way through Diablo. With my Monk, I used to be able to go through the whole thing, dying here and there but nothing monumental. Now? I can handle Act 3 on MP6, but not Act 4. Battalions of those Morlu Wizards guys, Legionnaires, Succubi, and Subjugators are way too much. If I want to farm Act 4 (and I do like farming Act 4, Nekarat drops random keys, all I gotta say), I have to ratchet the MP down a few clicks from where I usually go.
Honestly, I know what you're saying, and I would say the mob density in Act 4 could even be kicked up just a tad in some spots...but all in all, I don't think it should be impossible, but I do think the mob density increase there did make it harder.
