Ok, so I've seen the threads about a bottomless dungeon. I think that's a cool idea and all but how about this spin:
Multiplayer Mode: Circles of Hell
- Solo
- 2 Player
- 3 Player
- 4 Player
Overview: 1-4 players continuously fight off waves (or circles) of monsters that increase in difficulty overtime. No loot or gold drops during play. After you have been killed (and you will be killed), the circle/wave in which you were killed at will be displayed on your banner (could be in the form of a # or symbol).
This is purely a "test your might" mode. It is not meant for farming. It's a measuring stick that in a sense is reflective of your skill and gear at the same time. Your gear can only get you so far before your skill will have to take over.
Work with friends to create a balanced team of 4 designed for a battle of endurance. Potions may be limited or excluded all together. Health globe drops could decrease as time goes on.
And this doesn't have to be an all day event. Blizzard could scale the difficulty so even the best of the best die within an hour or two.
What do you guys think? Dare you enter the circles of hell? Also, if you don’t get the “circles of hell” reference then refer to your 8th grade English book.
Just the other day a few mates and I were talking about how Diablo could potentially support this sort of 'minigame'. Survival mode(like what you desfribe) comes to mind, but I'm sure other games could be ararnged as well. The important thing is that you don't really gain anything from it, except maybe something account-vanity related.
As for your idea, I like it. the Jar of Souls event is absolutely awesome, and whenever I reach it I'm always sad it ends so quickly. If it could just go on and on and increase in difficulty, it would be a world of fun.
My wife died on JoS on her first playthrough... she panicked, got surrounded, and forgot to click potion...
I'm glad you like it! I think possibilities are endless. Heck, I think it would be hilarious to stack up on thorns and life regen just to see how many cirlces you could make before you died. I'm pretty sure I would never get bored of this. This is something they could make competitive. Have two teams face of an identical set of mosters and see who could go the farthest. Or heck, have a "last man standing" tournament (in which case you wouldn't want to have a supporting character). Once again, the possibilities are endless!
i love the idea and thank you for bringing it up again but i believe this has already been spoke about, you basically mean a "horde" mode and this has been mentioned and i believe (dont hold me to this) mentioned in a blue post about how they like the idea
Oh I must have missed the post. I'm glad they're considering it. Can I at least get some points for "Circles of Hell"? Maybe I'm the only one that thinks that is the perfect name for the mode of play.
I came in here expecting Dante. While disappointed, I think it's a neat idea and do like that they are, even as a rumor, considering adding something like it.
proposed before, as a sort of spin off of Left 4 Dead survival mode. Still a good idea, but trust me Blizzard knows about the concept, maybe it will be DLC in the future.

Blizzard used to care about releasing Diablo III, then they all took an arrow in the knee...
