Well, I could think for myself and pick.. but wheres the fun in that o.0;
I could also go into about 3 pages per each class on why I want to play one or the other... but wheres the fun in that o.0;
So.. yeah, should I play Wizard or Monk first.
(whatever is in the lead on may 15th, will be the one I play)
Just pick your fav between the two
Or pick the one you'll think ill like the best (ask a question to help figure it out)
Pick the one you think ill like the least
I really have not enjoyed the monk at all during this beta...
When undergeared/appropriately geared for the content it just feels weak compared to other classes....
When overgeared I keep running into spirit generation problems because everything dies in 1 or 2 hits and my 3-punch combos don't get to reliably stack my spirit... feels like I only ever get to use one skill.
I will say it seemed a little bit better during patch 14 than during 13 but it was still just kinda... blagh. I almost wish, and I can't believe I'm about to say this... they had just brought back the Paladin (between my 3 WoW accounts - non-concurrent - I've had 1 of every class at 85 in WoW with the exception of that face-roll, auto-win, Paladin class - Yes, I'm a hater).
Monk lovers I hope you were drinkin your Hater-ade 'cause here's a good chance to burn all those calories flaming me...

My 2 cents...

Remember Assassins from Diablo2 would one shot everything early on, too, thus making the combo system feel awkward.
I played beta too and I absolutely loved Monk. I was originally set on barbarian but the class felt so slow. I do agree Spirit generation is a bit slow at times though. However, high end gear will most likely have very good passive Spirit regeneration and generation and mobs WILL have higher HP pools. I'm not too worried.
Couldnt stand Monk, had to literally force myself to do a full run with him in Beta. just my opinion tho, i know alot of you guys like him.
Wizard is just full of WIN. So much more fun gameplay, spells, etc .. its really a great class.
The downside is there will be alot of Wizards, so look for some serious competition in the AH for buying/selling gear. Probably the same will hold true for the Barb.
I voted for Wizard because from what iv'e experienced in the beta, the Monk is not all that great as i used to think he is. The Wizard is simply more fun to play in my opinion so yeah.
It was so hard to make this choice since this is where I am right now. Still need to see how the skill progression has changed in 15 but as of now I'm looking at the Wizard. I just didn't know how much fun Explosive Shock was going to be.
You probably don't need advice to ill just give my opinion. One question what sex you choose for each class? Wizard is going to be awesome "the caster in Diablo 3"!!! nuff said hes gona be dropping stars shooting lasers, beams, and all other sorts of stuff out of him/her.
Voted monk becasue I am a big fan of really good not all kung fu movies. Kung Fu hustle and IP man 1 and 2 both come to mind. I am picking DH myself because I love the potential for insane attack speed always a focus of my characters I want to attack fast! Monk is also probably the most unique class in D3 in relation to the Dablo series in that there has been a barb, wizard is the next line of mage/sorce, dh is the lesbian love child of zon/sin, and the dh is a carribean voodoo take on the necro. You could argue that monk is a paladin variation of some sort, but it is clearly the furthest from having a previous version of itself.
If this is your only choice I would go with Wizard and Female as she is fun to listen to and she can do big bada booms.
But man for me DH all the way. There won't be any more epic character in that game As far I can get epic inferno items and build good rocketer or granadier build. This tank won't be stopped by anything. And it will roll on heels !!! Look at bellow builds and tell me they are not epic if hatred can be sustained somehow with items: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#RdPciV!Yeh!cYYbbc http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#RdPciV!Yce!ccYcbc
Seems like the best class when it comes to survivability/utility, probably more useful in HC then softcore though, i enjoyed the monk quite a bit in the beta, i would pick monk for HC and wiz for softcore
Sorry I didn't answer, been working on MoP crap =P
Ill be playing the Male version of w/e character wins, for those that asked.
I've always wanted to play the wizard first. It was also the character I first played in the beta, and I STILL love the wizard, I LOVE casters, but something about the monk, its just such a new gameplay style for me (as I usually dont care for melee) but he makes melee so fun, so its a unique and refreshing play style for me... so that's why either one works.
I HATE HATE HATE the monk. To me it's such a boring class. Only one or two skills ever used for me and I just don't enjoy it at all. The wizard though, DAMN!!!! I was split between Wiz and DH but while playing DH she felt slow at first, and I wanted a class that I could just jump into and feel badass, powerful, and have it look amazing too, enter the Wizard. She basically has the most visually stunning spells and is a glass cannon. Keep your distance and you'll be fine. The beta really showed off just how powerful casters can be, as right now I think the two easiest classes to play with are the WD and Wiz for their sheer power, at least early on in the game. All other classes for me feel slow in the beginning and aren't all that visually appealing.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
From the limited scope of the beta I feel like the Wizard is the most fun -- Monk is pretty solid too but just feels too funky to my taste. I love the style of the Monk class though (the giant bell = awesome).
