So I hit 70 on my barb and got enough gear and set items to run a WW build. With that I started farming greater rifts and such. All of the gear that I'm getting seems to be on part or worse than what I already have. That being said, is there no where to really go from here? Is endgame only about seeing how high in grifts you can get and how fast you can clear them while hoping to get a decent primal? And are primal even that much better than normal gear? I got lucky enough to upgrade a few rare pieces into the primal versions of set items that I have and they were actually worse. Is there not much more to the game past 70 than min/maxing stats a d testing your mettle in grifts?
There is not end game tbh. You can have ancient BIS gear and do all the journeys and challenges within a few weeks of playing.
(I did all the above in less than 2 weeks on the HC server, beat grift 82 then stopped playing.. started playing off/ on with some buddies on SC, but even that is boring now)
Basically its a grind of legendary gems to augment, and finding primal items like you said, usually roll worse in most cases. The game is enjoyable when you start fresh characters and adapt skills based on the items you find with some buddies. Once it hits endgame, its just a bore like doing baal runs all over again.
Good to know that I'm getting into a grind fest. Lmao I know this is going off-topic, but I don't want to keep starting up new threads full of just one or two posts, so I figure I'll ask this here: Is there any kind of guide/walkthrough for the stats and how they work in this game? I know this is probably a noob question, but I'm not quite used to games like this. In the kind of games I normally play its very clear cut on "This gear piece is better than that one" . In D3 you can take two characters with the exact same gear and gemming, but one will have a few hundred thousand DPS higher than the other just because of rerolled stats and such. With D3 only allowing you to reroll one stat per piece of gear, I'm not exactly sure how to min/max stats on certain pieces. I.E. : if stat priority is say INT>VIT>CHC on a piece of gear, and I already have the INT AND CHC on it, but it also has X% of damage to a skill that I don't use, do I reroll it into VIT, or get rid of the bonus damage to the unused skill, and put it into a skill that I do use? Or are the straight up hard stats better?
There are two different guides, the starter and the advanced. Look at the build guides or join a clan for the starter. Advanced guide through all of the starter knowledge out the window.

Yup - once you got the best gear - the very end game is leveling up gems and use them to augment your gear and see how high of a GR you can do.
However, you can always start another toon - maybe even HC if you only did SC and complete the rest of the Season Challenges.

You can try to do the set dungeon masteries or hunt for the cosmic wings.
