Now that the cube is going to allow us to transmog any crafting mat 1:1 into any other type, wouldn't it be best to farm whites and greys now for the most crafting mats? Whites and greys give anywhere between 6-12 reusable parts while blues give 1-3 (IIRC) arcane dust and yellows give 1 veiled crystal. Since you can convert all of your reusable parts into arcane dust or veiled crystals, it seems to me that the best farming methods now are to just pick up as many whites and greys as possible. In T6 rifts this means looting the weapon racks and other sources of white/greys is your best bet for stocking up. If I'm missing something from the PTR notes, please inform me but it seems like the 1:1 trade makes this the optimal strategy.
This will work up to a point, but you are hard limited by Deaths Breath. Sooner or later, to keep converting, you will need to farm elites to keep up with the mass conversion.
I would say that you would be wasting your time farming now. The solutions in the next patch seem to resolve the current situation. Next patch if you need a material other than the act specific reagents, you would just convert on the fly. So if you have a lot of veiled crystals right now convert those to arcane dust later. I would start hoarding deaths breathes. But I have no idea how to do that; I don't think I have ever had stack over a thousand. My seasonal character has stacks of 5000 on everything except souls. Even those are stacking up into the hundreds.

Isn't their an additional cache for crafting materials from completing all the bounties for an act now, as well?
