Hi all. I just got an ancient Deadmans legacy with +8 Elite Damage. My build currently has no other Elite Damage.
My question is should I keep this or reroll it to +15 Multishot (Unhallowed Fire Build).
It is not clear to me whether Elite Damage is its own multiplier, or whether ti just gets added to the multishot damage, in which case I might be better off rerolling it.
It's a separate multiplier. Remember that Multishot-damage always works, whereas elite damage only works on, well, elites. Sure, great on the RG, but MS damage works there as well. I'm pretty sure a math-guru can do the actual math, but I reckon they come very close to one-another. My gut-feeling tells me the higher percentage roll on MS-damage will win out in the end, and you want elite damage in high numbers (such as a Unity, SoJ and maybe a BotP if you have room)
Thanks Dude. Yeah, I was thinking it was its own multiplier and I was also thinking it probably comes out almost even all things considered. And yes, I was also thinking that extra punch for the rift guardian made me want to keep it as now that I'm hitting quite high rifts some of the fights are taking a long time so that extra damage seems quite important. Sadly I have no opportunity for any other +Elite Damage now that Focus and Restraint own the ring slots, which again, made me think the +8 elite Damage has value as it create a multiplier I would otherwise not have at all. Cheers
Also, another related (and possibly stupid question) obviously the +Elite Damage will include damage I do with other attacks other than multishot (eg my generator entangling Shot) but does it also buff damage done by my follower and wolf? I'm doubting it does but thought I'd ask the question incase anyone has a definitive answer to that.
To be honest, the way final damage is calculated is probably pretty complex but I'd love to know a basic formula (if anyone has one).
It includes ALL damage, and all calculations are done simultaneous last I checked. Basically its (Baseline Skill Damage*Elemental Damage Modifier*Elite Damage Modifier*Skill Damage Modifier*All Damage Modifier) or something like that.

Thanks for that. To be honest, my gut feeling is that I'm better off holding on to the +Elite Damage so as to have the multiplier rather than stacking more onto my already considerable Multishot Damage. I could be wrong, but even if I am it is unlikely to make much difference.
ps. making decisions like this is one of the things I like so much about this game. It is interesting to me how we get to tweak so many different things in order to get the best optimisation..
in this case it is actually pretty easy to calculate:
the 8% elite damage will give you the obvious 8% increased dmg against elites.
the worst case for taking the 15% MS damage is, if you already have 30% on other gear pieces. in this case the damage increase would be from 30% to 45%:
or in my case for Unhallowed Essense, Multishot is an extra 15% for every point of discipline (for me that is 30+12+12+12+15=81*15=1215%+15 from Helm and 14 on boots=1244) so I either add another 15% to that or get a new 8% multi for Elites. I really feel the 8% is better but as per my original question I was not 100% sure that the Elite damage was its own multiplier.
ps. and to complete the calculation 1259/1244=1.01%
