Hello fellow Wizards, I'll explain what I'm planning to do so you understand why I'm asking what I'm asking.
I started gearing a Cold Wizard (for fun, of course) in preparation for the new Wizard Set. I'm running this Glacial Spike MM with Rimeheart and Frostburn build. As far as I've researched, most classes have a hard time procin' Rimeheart, but it seems to be procin' "decently" with this. Here's the armory link: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Rysevas-1796/hero/40561512
There's still a lot in terms of gear needed, so keep that in mind.
Thing is: I dont think I wanna focus on Magic Missile damage at all (with +% Skill), for now I'm only using Mirinae gem, which procs alot since each MM projectile can proc on its own, and seems to be irreplace-able since I have an unreliable proc from the Rimeheart.
I believe the best to do is to focus on my own dps since Mirinae and Rimeheart proc based on my weapon's damage and when the new set hits, Time Slow bubbles will also deal damage based on Weapon Damage, which might complement eachother nicely. I do believe Bane of the Powerful is the next strong candidate, which leaves me in doubt about the third gem.
- Zei's Stone of Vengeance - will it only boost my casted skill damage? Does it interact with my dps in any way? Will it make my Mirinae's and Rimeheart's procs stronger, or only my Glacial Spikes?
- Bane of the Trapped - Does the same thing applies? Will my MM hit harder but my procs stay the same? Or the "Deal bonus damage to CC'd enemies" also benefit my procs of choice?
Or, if I'm completely misinformed, please let me know your thoughts on this!
Rimeheart is currently procin' for 180m on normal mobs and 270m on elites. Mirinae procs for 35 - 40m.
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You should use both Zei's Stone of Vengeance and Bane of the Trapped, you are already dealing cold dmg so they are permanently cc'ed and the dmg from both those gems is multiplicative, unlike others, for the new set simplicities strength will be a must have due to 500% increase on MM (if u go for mm on that set as main dmg instead of arcane orb or twister, or even shock pulso lol :P) but mirinae being holy and all, dunno, but seems to me like there are better options out there.
