So to start off, I just noticed this sort of topic in several posts I've read today and it got me curious as to what level of difficulty you find most efficient to farm legendaries + blood shards. I know that the answer will most likely change after the patch since blood shards are going to scale with torment difficulty, but I'm not sure when that patch is hitting.
For the wizards who farm t5/6 in ~ 12 - 15 min or so, I would assume that means you can farm lower torments even faster still right? Apart from the challenge, what is the right level of torment to farm?
A long time ago I thought it'd be torment 1, but I clear torment 2 just as fast as 1 and t3 takes a little bit longer. What is your threshold? 6 rifts / hour?
Edit: In hindsight I realize this isn't necessarily tied to a wizard thing, so if a moderator wants to move it to the general forums, please do.
So I have been testing things out in t3 with my latest set of gear and I find that there is still a decent difference between t3 and t4. Seems like t3 is the sweet spot where most white trash dies in 1 - 2 seconds and elite packs in 5 seconds or so.
While I think it's a subjective question about how full of a clear do you do (clear all levels after the rift boss), it seems to make sense that an average 10 minutes per rift boss seems like a good farming speed.
I like soloing T4 Rifts. I enjoy playing in parties in T5. Those are my sweet spots for standard farming. T3 is a little on the easy side and T6 takes just a tad too long for my liking (right now anyway).
If it takes me or my group just a couple minutes or so more to complete a Rift in T5 compared to T4, we'll do T5. It's for the higher legendary drop rate and experience. Paragon levels really add up over time and can be incredibly helpful in tackling higher difficulties.
Yeah to add a new spin to the discussion regarding specifically multiplayer rifts. The thing I noticed is that some people will be able to kill a lot faster and blaze the trail ahead, killing most of the mobs out of range of the rest of the group. Perhaps this is an indication that the rift is too easy and the difficulty needs to be upped? It's nice to clear rifts quickly, but it kind of irks me that I'm not in range for all of the elite pack drops so I'm possibly missing out on legendaries. Not only that, but then you lose the multiplayer bonus % to get drops.
For those of you who do a lot of multiplayer rifting, does this experience ring a bell? Or do you all stick close together regardless of difficulty (like t3 vs t6). I would assume that on t6, you all stick together because you HAVE to, whereas everyone can probably go their own way in t3.
I'm jumping between T3-T4 when solo. T3 is surely the most efficient for me, i pop Wolf Companion cd and i kill elites in few volleys of Multishot; if i pop Vengeance too, well..... i can't see what race was the elite i just killed. Now i'm trying to push myself into playing Rifts in T4 because the previous difficulty is just a snore fest now and i need to keep myself awake when i play games.

You think so? I don't think paragon is what makes you reach T6 in the end. I'm 150 levels lower than you but prefer T3/T4 in groups. The main difference is having sets or insanely good legendaries (Wand of Woh). +1000 int, Meteors everywhere, and access to all Archon runes vs. nothing is a game changer. Even 500 paragon levels wouldn't come close to that much of an impact on your difficulty, in my opinion.
@Thread: I never do rifts solo, so no idea (probably T3 or so), but in groups it's T3 or T4 for me is the highest I can comfortably run. I'm not sure though that that's the "most efficient way". The fact that they increase the drop rate of blood shards per Torment might suggest that they detected that T1 is "most efficient". Since I sometimes play with low-gear friends or twinks I don't mind playing T1 or T2, to be honest.
Quite wierd that people think WoW will let you farm T5-T6 efficiently. It's not the case for me. I play arcane melee WoW build(I don't like fire) but I am still farming T3(it's very fast though). T4 is stretching my toughness a bit due my build which is melee with 0 cc skill. I can do T4 though just not as fast.

Well...it does. Right now, with my Disintegrate build, I average about 75 million DPS. A wand of WoH would probably put me over a 100 million due to a) how good Wand itself is with Chain Reaction and how much better Fire is then every element (Cindercoat + Magefists + Firebird's eye).
If more items exists to compete with the +damage % fire gets (2-3x the other elements.) more builds could maybe flourish. Right now, only Frost comes close, with Frostburns and Winter Flurry, both very rare items. If Ice Climbers added Cold % damage, and perhaps Wyldwurm added %Lightning, or a Shoulder slot item adding %Arcane...
They kill that fast without taking dmg? I think T4 is starting to hit hard.
I agree with this. I started to notice that t4 was a lot harder than t3. I can easily farm t3 almost carelessly with glass cannon. T4 was the point where I can't face tank, although I could probably change a few runes and make it okay. I did notice a difference at the t4 level though.
every run was solo, the same set of spells etc. Im gonna do more tests to see witch T is best for me while solo, anyway anything under 10min is efficient i guess.

In Party i play T3-T5, depends on my mood.

from start to kill boss, close and open new one.
3 runs at t4=~9min per run
