First time poster and just back to the about two months ago.
So I've been sending all the legendary drops I've been getting on my main Wiz (in pre 2.0 gear) to my secondary Wiz (as almost all pieces show a big decline in DPS).
I know with the new loot 2.0 paper DPS will be less than pre loot 2.0 gear, and I've yet to test this new gear out (waiting for a few more pieces) but it's significantly lower than my main Wiz (about 100K).
However the new gear does have a lot of the interesting affixes.
+ 27% spectral blades
+ 27% frost damage
+ 20% lightning damage
Reduce CD on Teleport
..etc..
Anyways, I guess my question is how does this gear compare to pre loot 2.0. I know it's lower ilvl's but if I spec the correct way (to the gear bonuses) will this eventually be as powerful as pre 2.0?
Maybe, I'm just not completely understanding loot 2.0 yet, or maybe I'm an idiot (probably the latter).
Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.
I'm not entirely sure if I understand your question. Are you asking how useful the +elemental skill damage gear is? There's an answer that might help you a bit in the FAQ:
In general, loot 2.0 is pretty straightforward: pick up an item and look at the green numbers. Make an educated guess if it's better, in relation to what you need to get to the next difficulty (do you feel you're killing too slow - get more damage; are you dying a lot - get more toughness; are you sometimes dying but only in long fights - get more healing).
Keep the old item though, because sometimes the green numbers "fool you" and the other item just felt better. This sounds strange, but ever since 2.0.1 I just trust my gut and equip the items with which I just *feel* I'm killing faster/dying less. Oftentimes it takes me days to figure out how good an item really is (like Goldwrap) or an item comes with a huge DPS loss and three red numbers on the comparison sheet, but will bring your character to the next level (like Wand of Woh).
Is there any tool for calculating damage with the new modifiers? Used to be d3up IIRC but I doubt it is updated. I like Loot 2.0 so far but since Legendaries are BoA now, I feel there is not reason to get typical strength user weapos (like 2H swords etc) with... intellect on it. It is useless.
Yeah, there is - Loroese's spreadsheet. Other than that, nothing I'm aware of... note that many developers might just wait for another 2-3 weeks until RoS has been released and the dust has settled. We're kind of living in an "interregnum" right now.
