I'm curious at what point do you forgo the 2h with 6% lifesteal Archon setup in favor of the 1H/OH deal?
Almost 70k DPS and plenty of lifesteal now, but seeing that my weapon DPS is 1200 and the most expensive of the Skorns are MAYBE 1400, I am really scratching my head on where to upgrade next.
I run disintegrate as my main out of archon ability when soloing ( Intensify has a higher coefficient ) and Arcane Torrent in groups.
Something tells me that I am in for a whole load of money to upgrade much over where I am. Thoughts?
It all boils down to a combination of personal preference and survivability. I used a 2h until I passed 100k because I really needed the exra life steal to facetank elites and not kill myself on reflect damage mobs. I only run with about 190 extra resists on gear total though, so if you have considerably more EHP you can consider switching to a 1h+OH sooner. I use a 1h+OH now with 115k dps and with the extra dps I find I die less despite losing over 3% life steal just because I can kill elites a bit faster. Reflect mobs are annoying as I tend to either break even or lose life on them with the 1h but if I can kill them fast it's not a big deal. If they get into melee, I just have to make sure to pick up some health globes.
There is no real 'breakpoint' at which 1h+OH becomes more viable, at least not a calculated one. There is a lot of talk about 1h+oh benefiting more from AIS at super high end DPS levels (200k++) however i am yet to see such a mathematical calculation to back up that claim. I still insist that a 2 hander (skorn) is going to be FAR cheaper than 1h+OH for higher dps, surely a good stat skorn is going to cost you 250m+ but lets compare that to a higher DPS echoing fury or a yellow 1 hander with OS+LS+CD>70%, provided you are looking in the 1200 DPS range - you are talking about 500m++ for such a weapon, not to mention chantodo's OH wothy 200m+ if you do not get an all physical dmg weapon.
I actually am seriously beginning to dislike wizards for this reason - you are stuck with having to find a weapon that has all 3 of those stats and those 3 always have and will continue costing a BOMB comparing to anything else. Not only that, but you are left without Echoing Fury because it cannot roll all 3 of those stats. Hence if you want to really maximize your DPS - you go for Echoing Fury with OS+CD leaving yourself without LS. Having to rely on blood magic's pathetic 1.5% is really...

1h+oh is of course more expensive but it makes the feel of playing much much more smooth(while in archon with a decent skorn you get to see some big numbers on your explosion/melee but thats about it)
I just got an 1,200 DPS Echoing Fury with life steal (2.6%) and an open socket. It actually gave me a 12,000 damage boost over my old 1,000 DPS Chantodo's Will. As of now, nothing can kill me anymore. It used to be Reflect mobs, but not even Extra Health-Reflect elite Phasebeasts are a threat anymore.
I helped someone build a 180K DPS Archon wizard that ran a high life steal + crit Skorn, but I really think higher attack speed with 1-hand + off-hand is more efficient with life steal. A ton more ticks on Disintegrate. I usually see over 2,000 life healed per second when I'm fighting elite mobs with Reflect. Out of all the characters, Archon wizards are probably the most expensive to gear, and take the most time.

For channeled spells, Life Steal is the same regardless of weapon speed, for the same dps, because the life gain is every half second regardless of attack speed. In other words, for Archon beam and disintigrate, 1h vs 2h doesn't make any meaningful difference with respect to life steal.
Loroese actually i'm not so sure anymore - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/3595370796#10 if channeled spells imply disintegrate and archon beam then it is affected by the attack speed, which is controversial to belief that it simply scales the 'size' of fixed rate of ticks based on total DPS.

Yeah, I'm curious about the interaction with channeled spells, attack speed, and tics. In particular how that interacts with LoH.
Still, for life steal it won't matter because your life gained per unit time is the same for 1h and 2h if you have the same dps. Also that forum post is almost a year old so I wouldn't pay attention to anything in the thread since any or all of it could have been changed since then.

I used Arcane Torrent and normal Disintegrate for a while when I was testing out new builds for 1.04. My resources pretty much ran out in about 3-5 seconds, even with some AP on crit. Conversely, people wielding 2-hand weapons reported having a blast with these abilities since their resources don't deplete as fast. That leads me to believe that Archon Disintegrate's damage output goes "faster" with faster attack speed.
If you have the same dps with higher attacks per second, your resources will simply run out faster. You will do the same dps as someone with the lower attacks per second while your arcane power lasts, but you will run out faster. With life on hit, you will get higher healing with higher attacks per second, but lifesteal only cares about your dps.
This is why ap spenders greatly favor 2h weapons.
