Do WDs have a fun build that actually works like Wiz and DH tanking or whirlwind Barbarians? I keep hearing everyone say this is the worst class but there has to be a fun build that does good damage, with high survivability from life on hit and is great for farming.
What WD does have I think are good survival skills. Not tanking skills as far as I've discovered, but good solid survival skills. I've scraped through so many bad situations with a combination of life soul harvest, spirit walk and spirit vessel.
I've totally ditched bears now. I used to think that was just some definitive skill a WD couldn't live without. But I'm really a dire bat kind of guy. That thing with a high attack speed can work wonders.
check out a few of the threads here, there's a pretty cool tank build using rain of toads, dire bats build is always fun, bears can be fun if you enjoy it (I'm not much of a fan, too many affix combos are really annoying for bears).
Hopefully in 1.0.4, they'll have flushed out the whole "90% of our skills are either unusable (zombie dogs) or simply vastly underpowered for one reason another (spirit barrage, spiders, etc.)" thing, and give us some far more varied, interesting build choices. I'm hoping for a nice pets + short/medium range skills meleecaster build.

They definitely need to improve the summons (I don't wanna call em pets anymore) a lot more. That seems like a no-brainer. I just wish so bad the Garg could tank the way the Clay Golem did. You'd still be kiting for your life anyway so what's the problem of making the Garg more sustainable? It's just sad how utterly useless summons are in Inferno. Act 1....maybe the Garg can buy me a few precious seconds to escape a mob of elites, but it should be more useful than that.

2-2,5% blind on neck,
4-5,1% stun on gloves
4-5,1% chill on sholders
2-2,6 stun/freeze on 1h
2-2,6 stun/freeze on Shield
and run with burning dogs, big stinker spider queen and flame pit/rain of toads
and you will pretty much stunlock everything to death sure it will be slow to kill stuff unless you have 20k damage
(around 20% dodge, 700 all resist and 5000 armor and 20000 damage should keep you rolling in act 3 even)
