Spiders are meant for fodder and beefed up their damage, other alternative would be the alabaster rune for more CC but I'm not sure how effective that would be.
Periodically cast haunt on enemies for life regen.
Firebomb would be my spam spell (resources permitted of course), beefed up damage and AoE.
I wasn't sure what to put in this slot so I picked Big bad Voodoo for a quick DPS burst for bosses and sticky situations. If anything this spell I'd likely swap with any other suggestions.
Zombie dogs for fodder, damage, and life regen.
Gargantuan mainly for damage, I think the poison cloud is the best consistent DPS rune considering crimson is situational and I don't know the frequency of alabaster.
Zombie Handler passive should be obvious.
Jungle fortitude to keep everyone alive longer; therefore to reduce resources spent on minions and focus on haunt/firebomb
Blood ritual for mana conservation (since I don't have any other) and this is why I chose life gains from haunt.
The intent is hopefully my minions can perform reasonable amount of damage while keeping enemies off my back. I'll stay back and spam my two spells basically. I know this build lacks CC and oh shit moments, I figure that's where I would swap big bad voodoo with something else (I'm just not sure what else).

Indigo runestone for gragantuan (humongoid) is quite competitive with yours, for my part i think its even better than the obsidian one.
I am not a fan of leeching beast either. Keep in mind your pets are doing 15% of your weapon and half of it is life leech. So take 7.5% of your weapon dmg and convert it to life. It's not so much.
