I, like many of you I'm guessing, loved playing the Necro in D2. He was by far my favorite class of not only D2 but very well could be my favorite of all time in any game lol. I loved the idea of walking around with an army to fight by my side and steam rolling pve content, all be it not as fast as a sorceress per say. However, while I understand why the WD won't have anywhere near as many summons as the Necro, I'm not necessarily cool with the fact that one of our main damage dealers is BLOWING UP our summons lol. I kind of see it as running around with ONE SUMMON (gargantuan), and FOUR EXPLOSIVE BARRELS that we call Zombie Dogs as opposed to rolling through quests with an army.
So my question is this. Has anyone else been considering a Summoning/support build WITHOUT SACRIFICE?
I much prefer running around with 1 gargantuan, 4 dogs, and a temporary fetish army. So the build I've been toying with revolves around keeping the summons up and increasing their damage. Take a look at the build and tell me what you think.
I'm thinking about replacing WoZ with something else, suggestions appreciated lol.

At the End of Days, Wisdom shall be lost, as Justice falls upon the world of men.
Valor shall turn to Wrath, and all Hope will be swallowed by Despair.
Death, at last, shall spread its wings over all- as fate lies shattered forever.
I don't think Hex will work too well in this situation; I'll probably use Mass Confusion instead, even Horrify I think would work better to get out of a tight spot.
Also, beware that though the passive increases Max Dogs to four, the skill still summons three, so it will take 60 sec to get four out starting fresh.

I have hex in there for the healing through the golden rune to keep them up longer, but that is a great point on the zombie dogs. I guess my brain was saying, "Well if the passive increases the amount of dogs out, then it would increase the amount of dogs summoned." Guess that means EVERY WD will HAVE to take a skill that generates an additional zombie dog essentially.
But that gives me the skill swap i need for Zombie Wall, since i really dont care for the skill any way lol.
Revised build. I wonder, does anyone know if the rune affect for Plague of toads that causes confusion is affected by the Devolution rune buff on Mass confusion? The tool tip just says that enemies who are confused have a 99% chance to become a zombie dog when they die. Or for that matter ANY skill that causes confusion lol. Its prolly just for those confused by the Mass Confusion spell, but worth the ask i suppose lol.

For some reason, I think that Blizzard would make the skill summon 4 dogs when you have the passive, but I could be wrong.

My place really was here. I was too foolish and stubborn to notice. But, what I truly hoped for then was here. Why do I always realize it When I've already lost it.

This is supposedly the formula for Zombie Dogs (remember, green text scales, and even at level 1, it's summoning 3, so it has to change somewhere, somehow):
Summon 3 + (PowerTag.Witchdoctor_Passive_ZombieHandler."Script Formula 1") zombie dogs from the depths to fight by your side.
Summon zombie dogs from the depths to fight by your side.
Dogs Summoned: 3 + (PowerTag.Witchdoctor_Passive_ZombieHandler."Script Formula 1")
I think summoning build without sacrifice will definetly be viable (for example you could rune zombie dogs for PBAOE fire aura), but not taking any dmging spell you're gimping yourself in both build viability and fun factor since you'll be simply runing around doing nothing (not fun even if your horde is doing your job for you). I would definetly dump either big bad vodoo or hex for a spamable dmging spell (probably hex).
