I've got a friend I've known for 6+ years. We've played together in WoW arenas (up to 2400+ rating), Sc2 etc. so we are very good together.
..but we never team up to farm, it is just soo much slower than solo.
Long as you got a good class combination, I find it's much easier and smoother to do it in group. I occasionally play with my brother who has a well geared DH, while I play a tanky monk. Works extremely well.
I like to farm duo because sometimes i screw up or my partner screws up and dies, then we can try to save the pack before it resets. if you farm solo and screw up... well, chances are unless you're kiting right next to a checkpoint, your pack will reset. I know the answer would be just "don't die", but we all know shit happens sometimes

With a monk running cyclone strike to pull mobs in and a nuker with good dps, you'll be clearing them MUCH faster than either could solo. and its alot more fun with a friend!

Dunno where you got that idea. I don't have the table right in front of me, but it's more like 115% extra for every player in inferno.
we also use leap and thunderclap to get faster to mobs. we steamroll act 1 and 2 and do ok on act 3 (currently trying to farm gear for act 4)
