My first opinion on the new Shadow set: looks cool, but Impale is all about single target - it needs synergy with other skills to deal with aoe (the FoK dagger is nice but imho not enough - also why i would wait 30 seconds between casts).
Please explain to me how could Legacy of Nightmare work with anther set when it specifically say it can't!
And I think you guys are missing the point of this set. This is a beast for single targets, you know, elites and stuff and I don't know... RIFT GUARDIANS!
Skills that can be used with a melee weap:

Actually the build could have some AoE, if you use the Overpenetration rune on Impale.
Something like this. Using Karlei's Point, Elusive Ring, Chain of Shadows. Though the more you look at it the more you find issues with this set, mainly because you can use from a limited pool of skills, all of which have to be activated quite regularly and all of them have to be precisely timed and placed to be efficient. I presume you have to find the ones that have a longer cooldown to prevent you from destroying your fingers and eyes when pressing all your skills each second like a maniac while trying to actually hit something with them. We'll wait and see.
So, now Marauder is getting buffed in terms of damage multipliers and also Vengeance is included in the set bonus.
I didn't even notice that Vengeance and Companions were included now.
This will definitely be interesting.
To be honest, with the new Cluster Arrow weapon I'm hoping for something else, rather than just more damage or RCR.
It would be cool if it altered the way the skill works in some way.
Maybe: Your initial Cluster Arrow impact pulls in all enemies within 20 yards.
it might sound pretty tame, but it would make more CA runes viable, other than just the rocket ones. Like being able to burst a huge group of mobs down with Loaded for Bear.
But I guess it would create too much a mess, if every mob on screen is pulled, haha. I don't know.
Well, yes, additional functionality is always fun. But the true deal with that could be easily sovled by removing Multishot from the Marauder skill list.
About the new Shadow set: i am very curious about the Impale dagger and the implications - especially if the hatred return procs only on the first target or not. If it procs on every target hit multiple time (meaning we get harted back for every target), the other more aoe-ish runes of UImpale suddendly become more interesting.
I'll likely be focused on a physical build (have to decide gem and some skill setup), but at least we can think about options before eventually dismissing them.
S6 with Impale - any rune and MFD-Grim Reaper will be a really good set up. Everything compliments each other well too, you're trying to continuously snipe the MFD'd target with the first hit of impale to spread massive damage, so you'll greatly benefit from the dagger's hatred return proc as well, if executed correctly that is.
I think this set has a ton of potential:
S6+grim reaper and impale dagger
S2+what ever mix of legendary/set items you want; just don't use impale or SP.
There's also the chakram sword coming: 1-1.4% dmg per point of hatred
You could use bola's with leonine cubed for grouping and CC
Demons demise will be great for easy and cheap AoE with no attention required, while you can focus on other things like sniping with impale
