So I recently returned to D3 after being away for a bit. I raid in WoW with my guild, and a few of them have been playing in S2, and with it coming to an end, they needed a 4th for S3, so I figured "hey, could be fun", but not only are they planning to do Hardcore (which I usually shy away from), but I feel completely lost on any/all changes that are coming with S3 as well as those already implemented. Hell, I barely remember what I was doing back in S1. All I remembered was how crazy good the Marauder's build was with the companions and turrets.
Anyone mind giving me a quick rundown of changes (gear sets or class changes for DH) and what to expect for S3?
Also, still contemplating on what ranged to play, since our group is Monk, Crusader, Wizard, and me who's kinda willing to play any ranged (since that's all I know). Would DH fill the group nicely, or would you recommend WD or a second Wiz over DH?
all you gotta do is obtain the new Unhallowed Essence set, Focus and Restraint ring set, the new seasonal MS quiver and a good Buriza, then DA-HA everything and use MS this and there when ever you need some aoe or refresh the F-R buff. Go completely glass cannon on stats, since this set is too weak on survival aspect anyway.. you can't use offset piece since rings are reserved for F-R. If not available, depth diggers + rorg+soj.. Gems: zei stone, simplicity's strength and bott.
Yeah, go completely glass cannon, that's gonna work wonders in HC...
When you take a few words out of the whole sentence it sounds a little manipulated. I was trying to indicate how awful it is to survive with this set especially beyond certain difficulties regardless of being it HC or normal in my own -a bit- sarcastic way
I would go with a marauder build. You just have to deal damage and M6 is pretty safe. You can still do a bunch of damage and have pets blocking for you. The new builds are either not as strong (Nats) or very risky (UE).
I state risky because UE is dependent on high Discipline levels. Well it's your discipline that keeps you from dying. So the best UE builds in a way discourage survivability.
I think the best build in HC will be greatly aided by an Awareness Hellfire Amulet. This will give you the best build by allowing you to use more passive skills. DH has about 7 really good ones. So being able to have a 5th is very helpful.
As far as Legendary Gems I would use Zei's and Bane of the Trapped for max damage. Your third should be a defensive one. I like the Gizzard but the one that reduces elemental damage is good too.
Just in case you die make sure you level a Gem of Ease. A Hellfire Ring is helpful as well with replacing a dead character.
