I've been comparing builds, evaluating statistics, looking at higher grift scores by both Solo and Group Demon Hunters, and yet I do not see any one build that appears to be taking the #1 slot, for either popularity or success. This is what I'm observing.
Almost non-existent: Lightning/Tesla Coil.
A few cases: Physical Rockets.
Pretty common: Arsenal Multishot Rockets.
Quite common: Loaded for Bear Cluster Arrow.
Most common: Maelstrom Cluster Arrow.
What do you think? Do you think that any one build is going to emerge as the best? Or do you think that these builds will continue to fluctuate in popularity and commonness? Personally, I believe that Tesla Coil could be really powerful given appropriate gearing, but Physical Rockets could also lead to some ridiculously strong builds. It also makes sense that Fire and Cold are the most common as of right now, because Frostfire was a top build in the old patch, so a lot of people already have the gear for that element.
Thoughts? Opinions? Will a new build come out of nowhere and crush all the old builds? It's certainly possible.
Also, for some reason when I give a new line (or 5) in the post creation, it doesn't actually give any space between the old line and the new line. Anyone know a fix?
I'm fairly certain that lightning will be on top eventually. I have done some additional testing and got the best results so far after some fishing. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if lightning was able to beat tier 55 again in a few months.
I think the changes might open up a few top builds. Fire with cinder coat, frost with frostburn, lightning with meticulous bolts. The one thing that I thing will be uniform on all top builds will be an ancient kridershot.

I agree entirely. The only issue is finding that ancient kridershot. Once someone does, I can imagine we're going to see a lot of DH's switching over to lightning builds. However only time will tell.
Yeah, I agree. The thing about the Kridershot is that if you get a well rolled one, it removes the requirements of Hatred for the Ball Lightning spam. That's the build where it will excel. Being able to spam that for lightning changes the build from "find resource cost reduction, find health globes and use generators to try to keep the spam up". But with a Kridershot it's simply "drop turrets and spam". This means that there is a lower likelihood of missing a single shot due to hatred constraints. It also means you can prioritize damage skills on gear and discard the RCR on gear. My gloves could have 50% CD, 10% CC, 650 Dex and 8 RCR, or we can get 7% Attack Speed. In lightning, you're going to want every damage stat you can get, and not having to sacrifice DPS for RCR is a major different. In addition, you can use an Andariel's Helm, which is by itself a 20% lightning increase, plus attack speed. I think lightning is going to be the the best build, but it requires such a high level of gearing that it's going to take a while to find everything you want, rolled in a way to make it BiS, then start running those high level grifts. It's going to take a while to see results from lightning, and until it does it's going to be regarded as kind of a joke.
Lightning is not hatred starved, it's discipline starved, at least if you're talking about softcore. It's all about RCR and CDR, and Kridershot really is not the best option in my opinion, I'm not so sure why everyone is so hyped about that weapon. I was even toying around with Perfectionist in a zero toughness setup lately. Got a few good tries on 52 and 53 where I could keep up with the timer for some minutes, but it's difficult to actually complete a rift like that; at some point I usually get screwed over by an unskippable reflect pack or the monster type in the next floor.
Simply that ball lightning build does as much if not more damage than cold or fire. It doesn't have any similarities to the original build, simply that you can do a crap-ton of damage if you have good gear.
The main reason of a Kridershot setup is because you both get a double spender setup with 5 turrets, cashing in the maximum advantage from set bonuses.
While Teslaciol build is surely effective, i don't know if it's worth losing a 200% worth of bonus damage on the spender.
please explain to me how lightning ball will be back. it's very core was perma ss
You might want to take a look at the thread I created a few days back, where I showed a tier 47 run (11:37) with lightning post 2.1.2 -> Lightning DH is dead? I don't think so =)
As I mentioned previously, I have taken it to 52 and 53 already and I got the best results with lightning so far, but it also requires the most fishing. Other builds (including the one I did tier 50 with) are not so picky, but the highest possible "luck range" is with the lightning build. It's not perma, but it's 80% perma. Close enough.
you got me there, i kinda forgot about your post, i did see it. however, it's still something im not eager to play because of the eye sore i get xD
anyway kudos to you for sticking to the build you've personally conjured and updating it!

What i want to know is if Zei's can outright replace Enforcer gem, and if people can actually give some maths, that'd be great.
imo, cold - krider is best because of the CC and constant damage.
But it wouldn't hurt if there really is no clear-cut stronger build!
