I am currently running a Physical EQ/IK/Boulder Toss build. I have a 300th with 47% Ancient Spear damage and +14% on both boots and helm. +29% Elite on Sun Keeper and +15% on Unity. Also +40% Physical from Amulet and Strongarms. Dumped paragon into Max Fury to boost its damage too. With the fury geneating Ancients and Earthen Might passive it takes about 10-15 seconds to unload a maxed out boulder at 182 Fury.
And it just feels like I can't push past Grift 23.
Should I trade in my Sun Keeper/300th for a Boulder Breaker or switch from Physical to Fire/Cold? I love this build but I can't push past T5 right now.
I did not try this setup you are talking about, but I can give you some theory crafting that might answer your question:
Dual wielding gives 15% attackspeed, 1h mace and spear have 1.2 attacks per second. EQ does not take attackspeed into it's damage, neither does ancient spear. So your output damage is far lower than the "damage" number showing on sheet.
With the current buff to 2H, giving them 3.7+K (without attackspeed) dps, their effective damage is double that of a 1H weapon. A 2H mace being 0.9aps will make your skills hit even harder. You do loose 130 crit damage, and a lot of attackspeed and thus probably sheed dps, but skills should hit way harder.
That being said, the increase in damage should outperform the 47% ancient spear damage on your spear, and make your EQ way better.
As for the 29% elite on sun keeper: remember the 2H mace being the best option? What about a furnace with 40-50% elite damage in the SECONDARY slot? (good luck farming for that).
Sadly, going this route, takes away the main reason people went for ancient spear, making earthquake your main damage dealer. And then it's worth dumping other skills and just boost that 1 skill (cooldown/earthquake damage on items, take the highest damage rune on earthquake and use that as element%, use things like battle rage/overpower-killing spree to boost your damage, ...), resulting in you running the same setup so many people run.
So, I hope someone might find a way to keep this build usable, but from just looking at the numbers (as I did above) and the leaderboard, you can pretty much conclude boulder builds are dead/not competitive with other builds.
Yeah, its getting frustrating. Its awesome to see 120M crits from one attack on Elites, but I feel like I balanced my gear well enough that I should be performing a little better than I am. I kinda think I should farm for a Boulder Breaker or Fury of the Vanishing Peak and roll Fire EQ/IK/Seismic.
i know what you mean with the high crit numbers from boulder toss, but really, if it doesn't crit, it's sad.. not to mention, it pales in comparison with other builds.. say a shotgun build hitting elites for 70m per beam.. and you can do this and almost never run out of wrath.. compared to 200m hits with poor target and low spammability it becomes... meh

I might be wrong, but you are comparing a barb build to a sader build?

What is your opinion on Boulder Toss?

I use Cave-In so it already pulls in targets. Plus a a Physical ESS of Johan.

The new Heart Slaughter seems like a good choice! Is the 29% Elite damage and 130% CritDmg loss worth the switch though?
Yeah, Raekor+Boulder was really popular pre-2.1 patch. I am trying to work with a new build that helps synergy with it like before.
::Edit:: lol, didn't catch that you were actually making a "funny haha"
