Barbarian struggling with gearing

  • #1
Hey all, long time reader, first time poster. I've been working on gearing my Barbarian (haven't played him too much), from what I've read and researched I've done the best I can with my limited budget to gear him up but I find myself struggling immensely whenever Plagued is involved and occasionally on other affixes (Molten, desecrator).

I know my crafted neck can be better, working on saving for that, I'm content with my crafted shoulders for now (not BiS but they are very good so far). If anyone has any suggestions for me or if I'm doing anything glaringly incorrect please let me know. At the moment I have ~10 million capable of being spent.

At the moment I can safely (and slightly challengingly) farm in MP6, I can farm in MP5 without too much concern (unless I get very unlucky or miss click my abilities).

    Thank you for any suggestions/critique/feedback.

Animosity is useless and your build doesn't have a main nuke. Fixes your staying alive issues.

Thank you for pointing that out, I actually forgot I had Animosity on from low MP farming (helping a friend), I needed it to keep my fury up. I've used Superstition for survival mostly since I've had issues with elemental damage. I tried using Overpower as my main nuke but found that my lack of War Cry was causing additional survival problems.

Average damage per hit between your two weapons is almost identical, so consider swapping them with each other. EF fear procs a lot less from the off-hand and I think you're unlikely to notice any other difference.

Also, your crit chance is pretty low. Consider dropping the Mempo for an IK helm and the IK belt for a Witching Hour. Alternatively, I think keeping the Mempo but using a WH might get you to the next tornado breakpoint on the EF (it will be pretty close) but look it up if you want to pursue that route, particularly since it might be too much for the Axe -- I'm not sure. You'd probably want to pick up some more crit chance somewhere else though if you do this, probably either on the amulet or hellfire ring.
...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.

Overpower is a buff, not a nuke. Fury should always be converted into damage, and currently you're just gaining it. HotA and Seismic slam hit pretty hard, but seismic slam is one of the least melee friendly abilities i've seen in a while so the choice isn't hard.

From what I've noticed so far it's pretty glass cannon. The increased crit chance is nice but my survival has dropped from it (lack of vitality and all resist) which is the main reason for my concerns with my gear.

I'll try out HotA instead of War Cry though.
