I'm not in the beta, so i really have nothing to go on, but i've heard some people in forums and podcasts saying i won't really be able to build a WW barb in D3 like i did in D2. Is this because of the way WW works, or is it a gear thing? maybe not enough life leech gear or something?
Maybe i'm just wrong, and you can have one. I was just curious...
I think it will work well in inferno too. I will use leap attack to get right in the middle of a mob pack, pop threatening shout, bash a few times to get the damage boost and then WW. It may seem like I have a lot of defensive abilities but I think they are worth it given how WW works. Channeling the spell leaves you exposed to a lot of burst from mobs, and the last thing you want to be doing is cacelling the spell (if that is even possible), or dying because you used WWed at the wrong time.
Another thing to keep in mind is that WW reduces the barb's speed a lot. Just watch the skill demonstration of the ability on youtube. I think it will be important, in any WW build, to have a way to keep mobs bunched up and near you. That's why I went with the crimson rune on leap attack. In Normal or even Nightmare where I can be more offensive-oriented I might consider replacing War Cry with War Stomp (w/ rune that pulls mobs together) to get maximum coverage with WW.
Imo even if WW is made free, it will be sub-par to Cleave, unless you pick Crimson rune for 430% damage per second. If (and I wouldnt be surprised) it is a misprint and meant actually 143% dps, then Gold beats it. Gold would beat it even if it didnt make WW free, just lowered the price to say 8-10 rage. But then again if WW gets nerfed to 143% dps or somewhere similar, then Cleave will be better, cause it will do similar damage and GAIN rage, letting you use other damaging skills.
