I kind of agree bots wont be able to compete with players playing 20hrs/day because they can't farm nearly as efficiently... That being said the leaderboards will still be filled with players being fed gear/playing 20hrs/day which means that there a feature that only really appeals to the 1%... In fact this entire patch only really appeals to that 1%... To the other 99% other than a new gem and some balance changes the game remains the same.
Most of the conquests will be finished in the first 24 hours, so even people who can not play 20hours per day can compete with them.
Conquests are a different story, those will go to the people who have stress-tested like crazy to get the perfect speeds for specific conquests and are willing to play from the second the season hits and not stop until they've reached there goal... Although different requirements, this still leads back to the 1% but this is the case with anything competitive.
I'm not saying seasons and leaderboards are bad, I just feel like they shouldn't be the main focus of the patch... Making other stuff viable like boss runs, short runs, bounties, specific events, pug groups, quest clears, PvP, more freedom etc. so that there is more stuff to do in the game. Addressing the fact loot is still just searching for same gear with bigger numbers, do like D2 how mid-tier gear was still viable for some end-game builds via secondary stats such as magic find and then giving this huge selection of ultra-rare and unique gear to strive for which gave all different effect instead of just getting your full set within a week and looking for that item but with 10% more chd.
Like I said, I love Diablo and I feel like Diablo 3 at it's core is a very fun game but I just don't see anything in what this patch brings, the game needs to be expanded further otherwise stuff like seasons and leaderboards seem relatively pointless to me.
At the earliest IMO, August 26th
