Yeah, I understand your point. But still, one of the biggest reasons behind BOA items is to sink gold. And if Demonic Essences droped more often, people would craft more. And that would result in a more efficient gold sink.
What Overneathe is saying is that the current 1.0.7 crafting recipies are actually TOO GOOD at depleting your gold as compared to the other materials needed.
Ultimately it takes less time to find 1 demonic essence than it does to find 50k gold. Therefore if you're crafting one item per demonic essence, you are constantly in the red. This is a very untenable situation, especially for people who haven't hit an AH "home run" or who are self-found. The gold cost is too much. Drop it to around 30k and that should fix that particular problem.
What do you mean by "I'm not quite sure why you don't have the same problem as me"? What problem? And how do you know I don't have it?
I mean that as a self-found player you should have at least close to the problem I have - I pick up much more Demonic Essences than I can craft, because I pick up a lot less gold than is needed to craft them. Not to mention Brimstones. If you're, again, a self found player it would mean you can only do about 1-2 amulet crafts a day. Some deeper problems there... And I'm pretty sure you have that problem. No?
@shndany
I understand your 'sink gold' argument, but try and understand that I run out of gold faster than I can craft the Demonic Essences. The Demonic Essence to gold ratio is not balanced for self-found players (imo), or players like me that only use the Auction House to sell item (but can't sell them) and super rarely to upgrade from there. Rich players can trade their riches all they want. I once sold an 80 million Chantodo and the gold disappeared in the next week - hundreds of crafts and poof, all gone. Now I can barely craft anymore.
as to Crafting mats... Don: Yes, we plan to take all of our future changes into consideration when balancing the amount of reagents needed for crafting recipes. We haven't decided on a number to reduce the number of drops by yet, so we can't go into specifics on how or if existing and future crafting recipes are going to change.
I still would like the focus to move in the direction as far from the AH as possible. Gold sinks are good, but dont fix anything to do with the social aspect.

I'm on hiatus from D3. The proverbial straw that broke the camels back? Individual ID'ing....I just couldn't fucking do it anymore. IT's so frustrating ....it got so on my nerves that it was like a nail being dragged across a chalkboard with every click.
I don't weather to laugh at this or actually PM you the number to a good shrink... You quit a game for a simple mechanic that can easily be avoided by not picking up everything you see on the ground? Really?
The second sentence is especially enlightening: "This is a reference to any process by which cataclysmic failure (a broken back) is achieved by a seemingly inconsequential addition, a single straw."
Oh well...reading comprehension be damned.
Thank you......
Feels odd explaining age-old sayings, doesn't it?
I get the saying but you two have seemingly missed my point. If you look closely its the large elephant in the room staring at you and asking, why the hell were you even bothering to pick up the rares when you hated ID'ing them so badly? I know it's a tough call but maybe the straw that broke that camel’s back was more of an excuse to post a flawed complaint on a forum? Maybe??? <_<

To do so would exclude one of my main draws toward Diablo games. I know not all people play the same, but myself, a huge part of the fun of grinding gear is finding those rare, one-of-a-kind items.
To do so, one must wade through plenty of bad items. Your solution is to just leave them there, which subtracts from one of the main draws of a gear-grinding game. This reeks of nonsense to me.
The fact that ID'ing is a pain in the ass didn't stop me from picking these items up. It stopped me from playing, along with a boatload of other neglected fixes.
Admittedly, itemization is such a mess that this endeavor is often futile. Nevertheless, I enjoy rooting through an assortment of junk items, digging for that diamond in the rough, so to speak.
You shouldn't defend bad game mechanics.
Another seemingly benign issue that frustrates me is only being able to see 5 active buffs. Like....how fucking hard is it to fix this? Should it really take a year and MORE PTR to fix it?
How about the lack of a /nopickup?
SOOOOO sick of clicking and stumbling over junk loot during combat. SOOOO sick of dumping mass-loads of junk items I accidentally picked up.

Again, easy fix, 1 year, still in the game.
Add it up....lots of straws stackin up, aye?
Easy there Skunk. Feels like you're very close to hunting people down and stabbing them in the knees.
Im with Maka and Ruksak AYE!!! unfortunately these pirate noises arent making any real noise. The question is how can we be heard- how can we get these changes implemented SOONER rather than Later !
Make huge topics about them on Battle.net, get followers, go on AMAs and Ask the Devs and keep pushing until Blizzard's back breaks from the pressure. Really, do it. I'll be a follower!
Only if you're mentally at a point where you're letting everything be a straw.
I HATE IDING EVERYTHING PERSONALLY. But I refuse to let it bother me. I refuse to let the straws pile up. I refuse to be negative because the moment you turn negative that's when everything seems like a straw.
It's all about perspective. If you get caught up in these things then, yeah, it seems like there's a ton of little things piling up making you insane. If you let that shit roll off your back like water on a duck, well, then it's a lot less likely that you get so emotionally worn-out over the small things.
There's a reason that a lot of people say "don't sweat the small stuff." When you constantly worry about the mineutea you tend to have reactions like the one you've had, Ruksak. Stress is a bitch, and it's a difficult think to truly conquer. There's no point to adding to your stress by letting that shit eat at you, though.

First things first. Less posts about how "incompetent" their workers are. I realize peple need to vent, but so many times (even in this thread) there are people who cannot express themselves without slamming the employees at Blizzard. This doesn't help advance anyone's cause. Leave it at the door.
Secondly, express things in an adult manner. Be clear, concise, but most importantly think your idea out before you post. Make a rough draft. Let it sit for a week. Add and subtract from your idea. Give it good "brain time." Don't just run to the forums with some idea that you came up with while you were showering but didn't think through. Give details. Provide diagrams or examples where you can.
Thirdly, express why your idea makes the game better. Don't say "the game can't get any worse than it already is." Tell them why your idea makes the game outstanding. Show them why they want to listen to you. Separate yourself from the haters and the trolls by being constructive.
If you do that I gurantee people will listen to you and I guarantee that your ideas will be instantly taken more seriously.
Heck Im all for earning rewards for crafting like complete event X earn 5 free crafts you supply the material. Or how about, you know you found a decent item buts its garbage now that everyone has uber items you can salvage it for x crafts. You still have the material sinks but everything isnt about gold. Self found players can play and craft or those that like the AH can craft still using gold. I wish I could get more rewards for farming not just item loot. Heck imagine if they had "Legendary" drops that opened a portal to a new map you could play through once and it would close until you found a map again. Would keep my interest going.
Easy there Skunk. Feels like you're very close to hunting people down and stabbing them in the knees.
lol....not about to snap.
The best way I could explain how I feel....I wanted to take a break until things get straightened out. I didn't want to get burnt out before key fixes were made. Itemization is what has me truly frustrated. All these other ancillary issues just made me come to a point where I decided a long break was in order.
I get the saying but you two have seemingly missed my point. It still all seems to me to be nonsensical arguments. It's a game that has lost your affection due to some "simple and (in your opinion) broken" mechanics. I feel that after listening to your arguments, that you have for yourself created a straw man argument against the game and perhaps it is not the straw that broke the camel’s back but your hopes and aspirations for the game that have not come to full fruition. Maybe in time these hopes will come to pass but to blame your quitting of a game on simple mechanics and, as you would say, a bunch of small issues adding up to a ton of straw... seems a little silly. Sometimes when you have a fondness for something you have to take the good with the bad. The issues you have brought up certainly could be addressed to better fit your desires for the game but to quit because of them shows a pettier attitude than a true diehard desire to slog it through.
How much longer do you guys want to make us wait and feel like beta testers. Make a change, stick with it, tweak it with 1.08xxxx patch if you have to ...but another PTR means weeks b4 we get changes....WEAK!!!
Have no clue what you are talking about.
Running a Diablo 3 News site its cool to let us try the PTR whenever they make upgrades on the game. Its awesome.
The game keeps getting better and it doesnt feel like a beta to me anyway. It never did (yes I tried the beta before release). Go go blizzard!

Clearly we have a difference of opinions. Thats ok. For me the game is stale. I am working towards a goal, and that is to get my barb to PL 100 ...and not the speedy mp0 way. I have upped the mp steadily to fit my gear and to be honest I hate rushing anything. So a PTR to me feels unnecessary b/c it doesnt help my progress and or desire to want to play anymore other than to kill time and hope i hit the proverbial "item lottery" I dont want to test for bugs, i dont want to be the first to try the new features, I just want to enjoy playing again-with hopes my friends come back and join me.

I'm with you dude. I don't play the PTRs. But some people do. Some people love it for some reason. Let them find the bugs for us, right? We only benefit from their zeal for hopping on the PTR. I'd rather them fire up the PTR and find some bugs while I play the live version than for those bugs to make it to live and for ME to find them.

I think something like this would be easily done with a home screen overhaul.
A lot of players on the other hand much prefer if there was not a single BoA thing to Diablo. So how to win the argument?
