I wonder what blizz is up to. We all are receiving Error 395000 and bashiok recently said that this week there would be "Big News" http://twitter.com/Bashiok
Seriously... there is a significant difference between "something fun planned" and "big news". If he had said "big news" for real I would be expecting a release date. Due to the fact that he simply said "Diablo 15 year anniversary is in 9 days! (We have a little something fun planned for the week after.)" leads me to expect a ton of disappointed Diablo fans and a lot of forum rage.
I realize Blizzard wants to keep the hype machine running, but even I'm starting to get really burned out on it. I think that for a company that knows how eager/rabid their customers are for an upcoming product that it's a borderline slap in the face to keep throwing out these vague statements. They know without a doubt that people are going to read into them and even though it's the people's own fault for jumping to conclusions... Blizzard keeps putting those morsels out for them to attack. I'm not trying to speak for anyone else, but it's my opinion that I wish they would just STFU until they have a release date.
I hope they don't end up tweaking this game into the ground. Sometimes a game ships without every desired component. WoW expansions are definite examples. Content that was desired or even announced as being included wasn't in the game at launch. That's what they make patches for! Don't get me wrong... I'll be buying the game if it comes out in 2012 or 2014. I'm just tired of the tweets and forum posts that start the community stirring and lead to nothing.
I was so extremely confused everyone was saying "super news" and I had no idea why. I guess I quickly misunderstood the question I was being presented. It was on the 31st, which was the Diablo 15 year anniversary, and we'll have our anniversary celebration kicking off early this week.
We're not announcing a release date, nor would I hint at such an announcement on Twitter.
@Bashiok Hi, is the big news coming today, or later this week? And happy new year

@Co_ow There is no big news. People misunderstood my intent. We'll be celebrating the #Diablo15 anniversary. That is all.
How will we be able to celebrate? Should we go out and buy some champagne and "celebrate" on our own? Hope they give something worth celebrating about (not release date, but it would be awsome! And excluding the anniversary).
