Also, for all you guys that think the armor is ridiculous in D3...
Why don't we revisit some of the guys in D2, hm? When I get back to my computer
(At my dads now) I'll take some screenshots.
But does any one remember the whole, oh, you know... necromancer skull-shoulder pad with the large spike coming out of it when you equiped a breastplate-oriented piece of armor? Or maybe the ridiculously-sized mallets that couldn't be efficently used, um, ever IRL? Or maybe the gaudy, over-drawn shoulders and crap hanging off you when you had Immortal King equipped? The same kind of stuff was present on just about all your guys, except maybe the Sorc and your Paladin. G.J. Screenies come tomorrow. http://www.michaeldashow.com/games/barbarian_thumb.jpg Your D2 Barb... wowza. Doesn't his shoulders look, um, big? Oh wait... lol? http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/images/other/rainbowfacet01.jpg
lol.

To the OP, those incredibly tasteless altered shots drain the life from my very soul. They all look like the first level of dark sector. Mono-tone. They have a claustrophobic quality and not in an immersive way. It feels like there are really no new environments in those altered pics. No color-contrast. They make all areas look the same, like I am forever trapped in the same monotone environments throughout the entire game with only slight architectual moderations.
I mean, monotone just isn't scary back up here in 2008. Maybe back down there in the 90's it worked. Color is good for 3D.
Color didn't stop trips to Oblivion(hell) from being creepy in The elder scrolls: Oblivion.
I know many would chew-me out for that comparison, but Tes: Oblivion had one of the most visually immersive single-player worlds in modern gaming history. And da#* well had creepy scenarios that co-exsisted with bright colors.
on a lighter note...no pun intended...the graphics shouldnt be midnight black, but more of a gothic and desecrated feel. i only like a few of those before/after shots.

Yeah, it's amazing how everyone thinks that we're asking for a game with nothing but shades of gray.
And I know this picture doesn't have much color but the bottom one could almost be mistaken for a photograph. The top one would be mistaken for... dare I say it... World of Warcraft.

I don't see a problem with that screen shot. I welcome color. I just don't welcome that green lighting. It bugs me so much.
I can get behind one thing, is that corpses remain for a LONGER duration (like in D2. They eventually passed on, but stayed for quite some time.) But I think the gore is perfect just as it is now, and yep.
Color is fine, gore is fine, just the time of vanishing corpses is just a tad too fast.
Also, yeah, the green thing is quite odd, but I'm fine with it and if it's really that bothersome you just change the Color Triangle display on your computer so it's more equalized instead of green-ish. You know, since all color is derived from Green, red and (yellow, I wanna say?)

To those who like some of those altered screenshots, I think you guys want that hellfire darkness color scheme back, not that bluish-green hue, am I right? But who said that's not going to be there? They've merely shown us a sanctuary dungeon and daylight outside. Actually, we see some of that when the big glutton miniboss gets summoned by 5 cultists in the gameplay video (10:26). Being this is a Diablo game, I guarantee that we're going to see more hellfire elsewhere. But the key is variety. Those still screenshots portray only monotony and gloom. It shouldn't be like that everywhere in the game. The hellfire scheme shows up when great evil is afoot.
i like the art direction as is. The screen shots provided seem boring. I do however, dislike the size of the shoulder pads on the barbarian. They're a little kiddy.

If there wasn't great evil afoot, I don't understand why I'd be out fighting?

If you don't want a game with only shades of grey, why are you posting altered shots with no-color and saying "No, this is Diablo."
Find me a quote from blizzard that says every dungeon in the game will look like the one in the demonstration video.
Just because an act 1 demo dungeon had (gasp!) colors, doesn't mean that its meant to be the darkest dungeon in the game. Why do you automatically assume that every dungeon will look like an act 1 dungeon? I think thats a pretty silly conclusion from a 20 min gameplay focused demo.
We want the brighter environments to be in the game with the darker, gothic enviornments that you want.
You seem to want only the darker gothic environments with no change.
Variety > monotony.
....and the WoW reference is getting really old.

Wow, thats amazing i only wish Diablo III would look like that.<-Yes thats how all you fags whining about the graphics sound
The horse is dead, we beat it for a while, and now it's being dragged through the mud while we chase it around with sticks to beat it some more.
Blame it on the media.

"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
Same.
I definitely think the green lighting needs to go... seriously what the hell?
the "more blood" shot looks really nice. thats classic diablo style, give or take more lighting...but thats what i want to see.

Words I hate in Gaming Culture:
Epic
Hardcore
E-Sports
I'm contrasting greater evil from lesser evil. The key is variety, not monotony.
