I remember in old Diablo 2 that when you reached 99 that was a lot of work, i had a javazon that reached 96 and i kept dying on baal runs and cow level runs, so i just was saitisfied with lvl 96 lol, but i'd like to see it max at lvl 99, if they make it highers thats fine too the game would be worth all that time to level all the way.

i like 99, seems right since its less of a mmo and more of a rpg

Oh man level 1 cap. Seriously shouldn't the poll say something like
> 50
> 51-60
> 61-99
> 100+
etc..

And acctually to the poster above me, the highest level attainable from hacking in diablo is 247. if you want to get technical.

I liked having 99 levels in D2, and so I voted for that, but I think that whatever Blizzard uses, it will be balanced (eventually).

I actually hope there is no leveling aspect... You would get better as you do battle and get skills as you fight different mobs so you cant visit the same place over and over for xp

I like the leveling aspect.. to me its a challenge and a goal to reach. GW kinda got old because of the low level and how damn easy it was to gain levels.

After reading all the pages I have sat and thought it over, and I have to ask this.

What does how long a game is have to do with its levels? A game is longer so it should have more levels to the character? What kinda thinking is this.

1. Many RPG games have a level max of 99, all vary in length. How can this be you might be thinking. Its because of the formula the developers use when calculating experience, based on level vs level of what your facing. A game doesn't need 100+ levels because its longer, it needs the formula in which you gain experience tuned.

2. After this stated point some of you might be thinking, "well if a game is REALLY long, wouldn't leveling be REALLY slow so that you don't reach max level before the end, and wouldn't monsters also stay at the same strength for a long time?". This comes to the next point, items. Items tune your characters level (Ever wonder why a lot of items in rpg's have an I-level, just like D2?) so that it matches the things your fighting without actually raising your level, keeping you in balance with how long the game is, and also gives incentives for treasure hunting, something thats very popular in Diablo 2.

3. Its already hard to level to 99 in Diablo2, and some of your want 150 levels with the same system with special rewards at the end to entice players to level that far? This isn't going to cause joy for the masses but for a regularly minority group of people who like to level. This will just encourage players to bot levels due to the insane amount of time it would take to get these levels coupled with the drive to do the botting due to the "special rewards" at higher levels.

4. Games don't stop after the cap is reached. Using WoW as a example seeing as its been used as an example of "games are bad with a vast world and low level cap". For MMO's inparticularly leveling is just getting you used to your character, and how to play it. You raise your characters strength through items after the level cap has been reached to take you further into the endgame of the game. By no means does a level cap determine when a RPG stops.

The final statement of this post is that leveling is a system to help developers balance a game without having to add so many levels. Less levels equal a bigger assorment of items at every level varying in quality, character builds, choices, and less overwhelming numbers for levels.

since before they introduced the annihilus charm. after that little charm came into play, levels were easier to attain if my memory serves me correctly.

99 Its how it was in Diablo 2 and 100 would seem to be perfect when nobody can make a perfect char.

I never reached lvl 99 it is just about imposible if you ever looked at ladder characters specially for hardcore there are about 12 of them at the end of the ladder but I personally like 99 100 3 digit lvls is just stupid

i like 99 it reminds me of FF and if you do max damage its always 9999 instead of just 10k.

i hope its 150+ XD

I don't leveling should play a large roll in this game. Just as long as they keep the questing up and stuff.

I think that 99 should be the limit, most games that allow you to go past 100 are Korean grinders. Although being able to go to level 150 would add many more hours of me playing a character it would just get boring after awhile.

I like 115. I wouldn't want them to jack to up, but I want a little increase.

Would be cool to have the highest level be straight up 100. The big 100. Epic!

hmmm, i hate to say it but it only makes sense to set the level cap at 99 MAYBE 100, but going to 150+ seems redundant and daunting for that matter...

I've always been a fan of having things max level 100, but Star Ocean 2 was fun to get to 255. I think that they'll cap it at 99, but 100 would still be good.
