Blizzard has filed for a new Diablo trademark on December the 9th, 2005.
Read that as you will, but I read it as: 'Diablo 3 is around the corner.'

Because if the invisible guy the president believes in isn't the real invisible guy then the real invisible guy gets mad and no longer powers our economy with his invisible hand. Jesus, have you never even read anything about economics?

I allow you to read it as you would, but since you brought this up, I will go ahead and reply, mainly because someone else had brought this up when I dabbled into the patent office before. Other games have been brought to light less than three months after being filed, The Burning Crusade, for one. I am more than familiar with Blizzard's release dates over projected dates, but in the best case scenario, any glimpses can be less than a quarter away.
I still think D3 will be either the Blizzcon beta, or the one hinted within the Blizzcon beta sign up form XP

I went to the US patent office website and searched the patent applications archive for a while and found nothing. I believe you, but if this information is online, could you post a link? Thanks a bunch!

The US patent office allocates search sessions per visit, so no direct links will function. Below are some directions on how to see what Sage and I see
1st: click the link, --> http://www.uspto.gov/ebc/indexebc.html 2nd: You will see three columns: Patents, Trademarks, other. Click search(TESS) under the Trademarks column and Trademark EBusiness 3rd: Click 'New User Form Search (basic)' 4th: Fill in 'Blizzard,' for the 'Search Term.' Note: Be sure to assign 'Owner name and address' for the 'Field' parameter!! 5th: Look for 'Diablo.' It should be the first one (There is one for Diablo I, II, and one for LOD, but LOD says LOD, LOL). 5th(cont.):Click 'Diablo' 6th: Enjoy!

No, characters are letters (alphabet letters) in the patent office. The most information you will read out of this form is from the 'Goods and Services' section. This will tell you what to expect, at most, not at least, from the Diablo title.

does the type of mark "service mark" does that mean they could be just updating it?
A trademark stays active until it is filed to be closed.

i shure hope the Diablo 3 dosent have that friggin gay monthly pay. I think it is absolutely rediculous that u have to 15 bucks a month to play WoW. Also, im wondering about the system requirements, i hope they arent to big. I have a 1 Gig processor but i have everything else good, 1 Gig Ram, ATI Raedoen Graphics 9000 series. I hope it isnt anything stupidly rediculous. About the same requirements for WoW would be good, but without the montly fee .
it dosnet matter what it says in the movie area. If u looked at the newly filed Diablo Patent on December 9, 2005, it says that it was a trademark for video gaming rights. It said nothing to do with Movies. So, therefore the movie thing is probably not true or false.
