Well, this should be interesting indeed. I have to imagine that somewhere in the wording for the Beta keys places got was something to the effect of "you can't make money on this".
Considering how much time they waste on their EULA's, I have to imagine their lawyers are pretty bored and eager to go after someone for this.

Well, I wouldnt say they cant make money indirectly, but directly is obviously wrong. At least morally, if not legally.
You know force and some of the others got a bit off of publicity from the free beta keys.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
yeah, regardless of whether they get yelled at or not, the competition is pretty lame
Not really a matter of getting yelled at.
Having a members only competition is completely above board but marketing it in such a way that you have to pay to have a reasonable chance at a key or compete with the "unwashed masses" for one key is unethical at best. It puts the websites integrity in question and worse by extension puts blizzards reputation at question, since they facilitated the beta keys.
Pay $10 now for a chance at the beta from an affiliate of blizzard, then pay full retail price once the game is actually released. This is not being marketed as an perk for premium membership this is being lauded as the ultimate reason you should pay a premium to this website.
I was speaking in terms of lameness in regard to the "post within a minute" stipulation. I agree, the integrity question undoubtedly goes far beyond lameness, as you have noted.
Due to whining from general masses (e-mail from blizzard) Ten Ton Hammer had to open the give away to everyone -- not sure whats going to happen to those who paid $$$ for premium membership in hopes of getting D3 Beta Key.
We have opened this giveaway to all registered members. If you purchased a premium membership in hopes of winning a key, we'll be posting further information soon.

[edit] looks like they edited that announcement, sneaky.
While I don't feel sorry for the people that paid (even though I'd pay 10 bucks for a (guaranteed) key lol), it was false advertisement and the marketing attempt was blatantly obvious. I still don't think they're doing anything illegal in regards to "lotteries" as I was discussing in another thread, but Blizzard obviously thought it went against the spirit of the key distribution and told them to take it down.
Then again, these fansites (I believe) were given rules on how they were allowed to distribute keys, and maybe TTH just simply didn't read them It's also possible they didn't technically break any rules, but because of the outcry and public opinion, Blizzard asked them to open it to everyone. Are those rules accessible anywhere by chance? Just for curiosity sake.
And as mentioned above by Ardikus (just in case you missed it), go "Like" and visit TTH's Facebook page at 5:00pm CST, for another chance to win. You only have a 1 minute window. Good luck guys.
Big shit storm coming their way real soon.

It wasn't me!

They are about to get a ten ton hammer dropped on their contest

If anyone can post anything about the outcome of this (if any) that would be great.
pass some to me...serves them right.
PS: Just look how bad the posts are on the WoW forums. 99% of the people are either trolls and/or idiots.
