Everybody going on about what if you get beta key today. I wonder what would you do if at this moment there is blue post that say some how they lost all the data on diablo 3 and they need to start all over ?
Well im pretty sure they have backups for all of their data so it is quite unlikely that they would not do that... But if it did happen I don't think i would ever google Diablo 3 again until it is released.
I think that even if some freak accident or attack occured and they actually DID lose all of D3, it WOULD NOT BE THAT BAD.
1) They have clients installed all around the world from alpha testing/game promotions at these conventions. There's substantial amounts of data and programming in the client itself they could take to build off of.
2) They decided on the game, they know what they built. It would take a little while, but it's not as if they "forgot" how to program the game - in fact, it would be much MUCH simpler than developing the game a second time; it's essentially rebuilding it. Developing is not just about the programming, but also deciding on what SHOULD be programmed and deciding on what the game entails. If they essentially had an instruction booklet that had all systems, gameplay and art stuff decided upon, it's just a matter of physically programming that stuff and creating the art/textures/etc required for it.
3) I think a lot of people would lose it, considering how little patience they have for a beta less than 3 weeks away.

That would never happen. Game companies have programs that 100% protect against that, which back everything up to a network drive in multiple places, as well as storing small chunks of data on everyone's computer. Even if an electromagnetic pulse hit blizzard HQ, the data on projects like that using these programs back everything up in different places off site, and at most the worst that could happen is the company maybe* gets set back a day or two.
Rofl, that wouldn't actually be possible. Every developer has a copy of the code on their local machine.
Highly unlikely, yes. Impossible, no.
Yeah, I guess a meteor could blow up the entire Blizzard campus, and the remote servers the current build is on. And the copy Jay Wilson has at his home. All at the same time.

quite unlikley, yes, but, it still happened to blizzard back in the day LOL and the guy who deleted their game still works for them LOL
when i wanted to make this thread i first wanted to call it "daiblo 3 data lost" but i just thought allot of people would think it real didn't want to give allot of people a heart attack

I would be devastated... Ever seen the movie The Punisher? Yeah, I'd do what that guy did..
image blizzard goes and troll us and say they lost all the data
After all this time ? I would sue them for psychical pain.
What is psychical pain?
Google it ?
Good try, but I think the post was a major spelling fail. Most people use psychological, rather than psychical which would be more closely related to paranormal activities. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/psychical

Or the dead could rise with a insatiable hunger for D3, thus causing not only all of the backup files to be tracked down and eaten, but the end of the world in 2012.. A Black hole could suck us in to a singularity, the Sun could erupt into a red giant, extra terrestrial beings could invade with a similar hunger for D3 as the zombies would have.. I mean a lot of things could happen. None of these happenings are impossible, just highly unlikely
Really though guys we all (hopefully) know this won't happen, so save us the Captain Obvious statements and join in on the fun of telling us what you would do if it did happen, theoretically of course.

No, it was Warcraft 2.
